After leaving the blacksmith they got back in the carriage and headed to town. The clothing shop Auntie Feifei had found was the first place they went to after arriving. It was a large shop with two stories. According to Auntie Feifei the first floor had the more reasonably priced clothing while the second floor had higher quality cloth and customers could order custom tailored clothes at a higher price.
"Young Master, let's go to the second floor to have you measured for some new clothing." Auntie Feifei said.
"Wait, I want to look down here and help Kai first." Minda said. Auntie Feifei couldn't understand Minda's interest in Kai's clothes.
"In that case allow me to go upstairs and make arrangements while you look down here." Auntie Feifei suggested.
"You should go with her. My own shopping won't take long. I'll probably just find something that's premade and in my size. You should focus on yourself." Kai said.
"It's fine. I want to help you first. What colour do you want to wear?" Minda asked Kai his eyes glancing around the room.
"It doesn't matter." Kai said. He had no interest in clothes or fashion. Minda however seemed to think differently. He was reaching out from his wheelchair trying to grab the cloth closest to him.
"How can it not matter? My mom used to say clothes make the man. If you don't dress well no one will take you seriously. She also said if you look great you will feel great." Minda lectured.
"I have no knowledge of clothes or what could possibly look good. Could you choose for me?" Kai asked Minda when he realized how important it was to him.
"I can help but could you tell me what colour you like?"
"It really doesn't matter..." As he spoke Kai could see Minda's brow furrow in discontent. So he changed his words at the last second.
"... but if I have to choose I suppose I like green."
"Green! Green is nice. Let's go over there. I think I see some green clothes over there." Minda exclaimed after looking around the room. Kai pushed Minda over to the table with a few different green outfits.
"Kai can you hold this one up? I want to see how it looks." Minda asked. He grabbed a lighter mint green coloured outfit and held it up. However because he was in the wheelchair he couldn't hold it up high enough. Kai did as he was told. Minda looked but didn't seem satisfied and grabbed another then another until finally he found one he liked.
"I like the colour of this one but it looks way too small plus it's really thick. It's almost summer if you wear this I think you'll be too hot." Minda said with a disappointed look.
Kai looked around and couldn't see another outfit made with the same colour. Not wanting to disappoint Minda he took the clothes and walked up to one of the salespeople.
"Sir, do you have any other cloth that's this colour or something similar?" Kai asked. The salesperson looked at the clothing for a few seconds before answering him.
"This colour was popular this winter. I believe we have more of the cloth but no other premade clothing. We also have a thinner cloth made in this colour however it is more expensive and a better quality than the item you are currently holding." The salesperson said thinking Kai wouldn't he able to afford it.
"How much?" Kai asked.
"To make a custom outfit in your size using the more expensive cloth it would cost 2 silver." The salesperson said.
"I have 3 silver left after buying the wood and tools I need. I can afford one custom outfit made from the green cloth but I don't think Minda will be satisfied unless I buy at least two." Kai thought. He had received 5 silver for selling his deer. Thankfully, he didn't have to spend much at the blacksmith but it still wasn't enough to splurge on a lot of clothes.
