"Kai, are you okay?" Minda asked the moment they entered the bedroom.

"..."

"Kai?"

When Kai didn't respond Minda stood up and grabbed Kai's troubled face. He had never seen Kai so out of it. Feeling Minda's soft hands on his face Kai looked down at him and tried to smile.

"What's wrong?" Minda asked again.

"I'm fine."

"You're not fine."

"I am, I just need a moment." Kai said. He tried to reassure him but Minda wasn't convinced.

"Lay down with me for a bit."  Minda asked thinking Kai might feel better after getting some rest. Kai looked at Minda and couldn't refuse. He picked him up in his arms and carried him over to the bed.

"Kai, are you sure you don't want to tell General Lei the truth?" Minda asked again.

"It's enough knowing he and the other guys are doing well." Kai said as he tucked Minda under the blankets. Minda considered telling the General on Kai's behalf but soon gave up on the idea.

"If I'm the one telling the General there's no way he would believe me. It has to be Kai." Minda thought as he made himself comfortable in Kai's warm embrace.

"Kai, no matter what you'll always have me." Minda said to comfort him.

"And you are all I will ever need." Kai whispered quietly as he hugged him tight. His words however worried Minda more because he could see how difficult seeing his friends and foster father again were for him.

...

Later in the afternoon, Auntie Feifei went over to talk with Kai and Minda and see if everything was okay.

"Young Master, with our guests here I'm afraid Sir Kai will need to stay in a room further away." Auntie Feifei said.

"Why? general Lei and the soldiers are staying in the guests rooms on the first floor of the West Wing. They won't know Kai is staying in my room with me." Minda said.

"Young Master, whether they find out or not is not the issue. We must consider your reputation. I've asked Syaoran to prepare a nice room for Sir Kai on the second floor of the North Wing."

Minda didn't like the idea of Kai sleeping in a separate room let alone a separate wing of the house. He already struggled to sleep through the night with Kai on the sofa.

"I know the General is important to Kai but I'm really starting to dislike having him and his soldiers as guests. Since they've come Kai has been depressed and now we can't even sleep in the same room." Minda selfishly thought.

"Kai, are you okay with this?" Minda asked hoping he would disagree.

"..."

Minda tried to talk with Kai but he was too out of it to respond. He was sitting on the sofa staring off into the distance, unresponsive and clearly troubled.

"Kai." Minda called out again to get his attention.

"I'm here." Kai reflexively said. Minda rolled over to Kai's side and took his hand in his.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. Did you need something?" Kai asked.

"Auntie Feifei and I were just talking about how you'll need to stay in a separate room until the wedding." Minda explained.

"I see. Will you be okay sleeping in here alone with the snow leopards?" Kai asked. Minda wanted to say no but he could tell Kai had his own troubles to worry about.
