After the details of the wedding clothes were decided it was time to discuss the cost. Minda never paid attention or handled his own money. In this case it was Auntie Feifei who pulled out a money purse and prepared to pay for everything.

"The final cost for Young Master Chen and Sir Kai's clothing is 3 small gold coins." MuFen said. Kai nearly did a spit take at the cost.

"How can something like clothes cost so much! That's more than I spent in a year as a soldier." Kai nearly shouted. He looked at Auntie Feifei in disbelief. She seemed unmoved by the cost and it was the same for the sheltered Minda.

"Wait." Kai said stopping Auntie Feifei from paying the owner of the shop MuFen. The price was shocking but he had a made a decision to help pay for the clothes since the beginning.

"Is something wrong?" Auntie Feifei asked.

"MuFen, is it possible to pay half the cost today and the other half when we come to collect the clothing?" Kai asked.

"Kai?" Minda called out wondering what he was planning.

"I want to pay the other 50%." Kai explained.

"Why? We're going be married. My money is your money now." Minda said still confused.

"We will be married but I have no intention of living off of your money. That money came from your family and belongs to you. Unless there is no other choice I plan to work and pay when possible." Kai clarified but he could tell Minda wasn't convinced. Kai took Minda's hand and started massaging it out of habit.

"It might seem strange but it's important that I pay for at least half the cost of our wedding. It won't feel right otherwise."

Minda looked at him still not quite understanding why it was important. In Minda's mind money was something you spent to get the things you want or need. It had no other meaning. However, he could tell it meant something to Kai and didn't plan on fighting him about it.

"Tailor MuFen, is it possible?" Minda asked.

MuFen was surprised by the request. However he had no reason not to believe Minda would be able to cover the full cost of the clothing even if it was split into two separate payments.

"It won't be a problem. The final payment can be paid when the clothing has been completed. The daily clothing will be done after 1 week. The wedding clothing will require more time. Possibly one month." MuFen politely said.

Minda was glad he agreed but also upset that it would take so long for them to finish the wedding clothes.

"So long. Kai and I won't be able to marry for at least a month."

...

After Auntie Feifei paid the 1 small gold and 5 silver to MuFen they left the clothing store and headed for the restaurant.

"Auntie Feifei, how soon can we have the wedding?" Minda asked once they were in the carriage.

"I cannot say. I will need to confer with a fortune teller to choose an auspicious day." She said.

"Is that really necessary?" Minda asked with a troubled expression. After everything that happened to him because the shaman's words claiming he was cursed he had very little trust in fortune tellers or shamans.

"Young Master, marriage is a very important occasion. There are many traditions and customs that are involved. We've skipped several already not consulting a fortune teller is..."

"We don't need to choose an auspicious day because Minda and I will be happy as long as we are together." Kai interjected when he noticed Minda's discomfort.

"I understand but I hope you can be patient and wait until the clothing and other arrangements have been completed." Auntie Feifei said.

"What other arrangements are there?" Minda asked.
