Chapter 58: Wedding Pt.1

The next few days Kai was constantly trying to escape from General Lei. His goal was to try and keep Minda from hearing more stories from his past, but General Lei was sneaky and would appear the second he let his guard down.

Worse was when the other soldiers returned from their hunting trip. They, like General Lei, were eager to share ever embarrassing things they knew about Kai.

"Kai, welcome back!" Minda exclaimed when he returned after going to the toilet.

"Yo, Captain welcome back. We were worried you might have fallen in you were gone for so long!" Yanlin joked.

"Tch!" Kai grumbled as he pushed his way past everyone towards Minda.

"Tomorrow's the big day. Are you excited or dreading it." Daniu asked.

"I was ready to marry him weeks ago." Kai said.

"I wasn't asking you." Daniu said and sat down next to Minda. In the beginning Minda was a bit frightened by Daniu's large stature and excessive scars but soon realized he was actually a clumsy person.

"Minda, are you sure about marrying our Captain?" He asked again.

"Absolutely." Minda said.

Kai couldn't deny he was annoyed with all the embarrassing stories about his past but he did like how easily they accepted Minda and were treating him well. He wrapped his arm around Minda and pulled him away from Daniu. Everyone noticed his little act of jealousy and burst into laughter.

"Kai, we like your little soulmate but not in that way. You don't have to worry."

"Shut up." Kai said. He then went a step further and picked Minda up.

"Kai?"

"It's getting late and we have a long day tomorrow." Kai said as he headed for the bedroom.

"Don't do anything you shouldn't."

"We'll be listening."

Minda burst into a deep red blush. Spending time with everyone had been like a whirlwind. They were always talking, chatting, and in high spirits. He had never experienced that type of atmosphere before and it was fun, but more than anything he loved it when Kai carried him off so they could be alone.

"Tomorrow we'll officially be husband and wife." Minda whispered into Kai's ear as he was carried towards the bedroom.

"Hm." Kai hummed. His chest reverberated when he did.

"What's the first thing you want to do?" Minda asked. Kai knew exactly what he wanted to do but hesitated to say it. He was worried Minda might feel pressured. Instead he chose the second thing he wanted.

"... I hope you can change how you call me." Kai said. He had been thinking about it and living with the General and everyone he couldn't help but want Minda to have a special name only between them.

"Like what?"

"Anything you want."

Minda went silent as he thought about the possibilities.

When they reached the bedroom Auntie Feifei was waiting by the door.

"Forgive me, but I must insist that tonight you do not sleep in the same room together. There are many traditions associated with the wedding day and after discussing it with the General it has been decided that Sir Kai will sleep at the base of the mountain in one of the farm houses tonight." Auntie Feifei suddenly announced.
