The cabin wasn't too large but was well furnished. Minda looked around as Kai carried him into the room. Right away Kai headed for the bed with plans to tuck Minda in. Minda however had different plans."I want to see the hot spring." Minda said as he stretch his neck up to look around.
"The hot spring is through these doors." Bao said. Minda tapped Kai's shoulder to signal he wanted to go. Kai responded to his silent request and carried him over through the doors. On the other side was a small hot spring made of stone and steaming murky water.
"It stinks."
"All hot springs have this smell. It's how you know the water is heated by the earth. It's also what gives it medicinal properties. After bathing in our town's hot springs the elderly swear the feel years younger, women appear more beautiful, and men of all ages feel rejuvenated." Bao said with pride.
"Honey, do you think it will help me?" Minda asked.
"Absolutely!" Bao said before Kai could answer him. Kai shot him an intense glare. His favourability for the young boy was now gone. The young Bao however never noticed as he started to explain how to use the hot spring.
"Before going in the hot spring make sure to wash and rinse your body. You can wash up with this bucket over here. We also provide our inn's unique soap for your personal use." He continued to say as he busily moved around the outdoor bath.
"Oh, I also need to warn you. The temperature of the water is comfortable but if you stay in it too long people can experience dizziness. Some have even fainted."
"We'll be careful, right Honey." Minda said.
"Of course. I would never let anything happen to you." Kai said. He then gave him a kiss on the forehead despite the servant boy staring at them.
"Is there anything else?" Kai asked. He wanted some privacy and he wasn't being subtle about it either. The young man finally realized his mistake and lowered his head.
"Yes, of course. Please allow me to take your laundry before I leave. I've also arranged for your meal to arrive in roughly twenty minutes." He said a bit flustered by Kai's intense stare.
"The laundry is located in the carriage. Give me a moment and I'll get it for you." Kai said. He walked Minda over towards the bed but Minda didn't want to lay down yet.
"Sofa, please." Minda said. Kai let out a sigh before changing course.
"I'll only be gone for a few minutes. If you need anything shout." Kai said as he placed him down on the sofa.
"I will."
...
"This place is actually kind of cozy." Minda thought as he looked around the room. Its size was a little smaller than his old bedroom but seemed to have everything they would need. It had a large bed, a seating area, a small stove for brewing tea or warming the room on cold nights. Best of all it had a bath that never needed heating or refilling because it was a hot spring.
"Maybe on the way back we can come back here and spend a few more night." Minda imagined as he looked around. Since starting their voyage this was the first place they had officially stopped at. The other towns or villages were small stops along the way where Kai would pull out his wheelchair and take him for a stroll around the market. Nothing truly new or exciting. This hot spring town was the first that felt different and new.
"I wonder if Kai will be okay with taking a bath right away? I really want to try out the hot spring and honestly he could use a bath after mucking around in the mud all day."
