Minda lay in bed holding his stone when he heard a sound coming from outside. At first, he assumed it was Syaoran checking on him. But the sound was coming from the garden, not from inside the house.Minda wrapped his arms around his stone tight and slipped under the blanket. His chest felt heavy and he could feel his heart pounding in his chest.
"Someone is here, Kai what do I do?" Minda whispered quietly.
Rustle*
The sound grew louder and with it so did Minda's heartbeat. When he heard the door leading to the garden slide open Minda slipped further under the blanket and pretended to be asleep. The intruder moved closer. With each step Minda's heart felt like it would burst out of his chest.
"Don't hurt me!" Minda silently screamed as the intruder moved closer. His body tensing.
Touch*
Without warning, the intruder touched the tips of Minda's fingers that were peeking out from under the blanket. He wanted to pull his hand away but his body was frozen from fear.
The hand slowly moved to reveal more and more of Minda's hand. His fingers were large and callused yet strangely familiar. The man sat on the edge of the bed and with his hand he began to trace the creases on Minda's exposed palm.
"It... it feels familiar."
The man proceeded to gently massage Minda's hand. The feeling brought tears to his eyes.
"This must be a dream. There's no way." Minda quietly sobbed. A single word escaping his lips.
"Kai..."
The intruder heard his voice and stopped. Minda could feel the man's hand tremble. Realizing he had spoken aloud Minda regretted his words. Frightened he slipped his hand under the blanket and curled up tight around his precious stone.
"..."
The room became silent. Only the sound of their breathing could be heard. Suddenly, Minda felt the man slip his hand under the blanket. He reached in and quickly found Minda's hand again. Terrified he clutched the stone tight preventing the man from pulling his hand out. The man didn't give up. He gently placed his hand above Minda's.
"This stone... it's from the dungeon." The man said in a deep calm voice as his fingers lightly touched it. Minda didn't recognize the man's voice. Frightened he clutched the stone tighter and pulled it closer to his body. The man didn't give up. He gently ran his fingers along Minda's hand. The familiar touch was like a soothing lullaby. Despite his fear he felt his body relax from the touch and his thoughts began to swirl.
"How... how do you know about the stone?" Minda whispered. His voice trembling as he spoke. The man gently pulled Minda's finger and placed it over a crack along the side of the stone.
"It cracked when I kicked it loose." The man slowly said.
Minda's body shook. He hadn't told anyone about the stone. For the intruder to say it cracked as he kicked it shocked him. He had a burning question in his heart. He tried to ask but he couldn't utter a word. In the end all he could do was lay there crying. The man could hear Minda cries from under the blanket. He pulled Minda's hand away from the stone and started massaging it.
"Are you..." Minda quietly muttered unable to say his name.
"Yes."
"Im... im... impossible." Minda barely managed to say.
"I don't know why or how it happened. But I'm grateful to have a chance to see you again."
Minda began to whimper as he tried to hold back his tears. It was unbelievable yet he couldn't help but want it to be true.
