~5 Years Later~

A lot has happened in the past five years with Adam and Sally. Sally's fashion line was a huge success, so that kept her busy. Connor was almost eighteen and your typical teenager but not when it came to his sisters, who adored him and each one having a different bond with him.
Mazie and Hadley were six years old even though they were twins they were complete opposites.Mazie had wavy brown hair with eyes like her mother she was into dance while Hadley she had strawberry blonde hair still with her daddy's eyes.She loved soccer, like her big brother. And Adam and Sally's baby Eden a mix between the both of them and very sassy, she was almost five. Sally couldn't believe how fast the time went
It was a hectic morning Sally was getting the kids ready for summer camp. She was in Eden's room doing her hair
"Maz and Haddie when I come in there you two better be dressed"she called out when she heard giggling coming from their room
Connor walked by
"Hey Con, can you make sure your sisters are ready we need to leave in ten minutes"she asked him
"No, problem"he said heading to the girls room
"Mama,do I have to go to kiddy camp why can't I go where Mazie and Haddie go" she asked
"Because they are a little bit older then you but I promise you, you are going to have a lot of fun"she hugged her
Just then the girls ran into the room. Mazie was in her dance leotard and Hadley in her soccer uniform
"All set Sally"Connor told her following them
"Thanks."she got up off the bed "Alright, are you still good with take these two to their camps"she asked Connor gesturing to Mazie and Hadley
"Why can't Daddy take us"Mazie asked
Both Connor and Sally looked at each other. Sally looked back at Mazie
"Because he had a early meeting so he went to work before you got up" she told her as she was fixing Hadley's ponytail
Eden looked sad "I didn't get my morning hug"she said
"Don't worry Daddy will pick you all up after camp"she informed them pulling Eden into her and kissed her cheek "Okay we need to go Mommy has a lot to do" they all headed out

Sally was at her desk looking over all the designs she had so far. When Audra came in
"Sally" she knocked
Sally looked up a little distressed "Ya what is up" she asked going back to the sketches
"I just wanted to inform you I made your flight for California for the fashion show" she said
"Thanks with everything, you know balancing being a mom and finishing these pieces for the show. I wasn't sure I'd be able to"she said
"Well that's what I'm here for" she smiled
Sally looked at her "Did you only book one ticket"she asked
"Yes, unless things changed and you need me to book a ticket for Adam" she asked looking at her tablet
Sally thought for a second "No, nothing has changed besides someone needs to stay with the girls"she said going back to working
"How are they, you know with everything"Audra asked
"They are good, excited for the camp"Sally told her, she took off her glasses and stared at the picture of them
"Sally, you okay"Audra looked at her
"Ya, just thinking how grown up they are. Eden wants so badly to be like her sisters. My baby"she had tears in her eyes
Audra watched her "Sally"
Sally shook her head "I'm good"she said getting out of her head
"Well I'll let you get back to work"Audra got up to leave
"Um Audra"she called out for her
Audra turned around
"Is Adam in his office"Sally asked
"Yes, he just got back from his meeting" she told her
Sally smiled and nodded

Adam was in his office over by the filing cabinet while on the phone with one of the sponsors
"That sounds good, just email all the information we may need"he said then hung up. He looked over and saw Sally standing in the doorway
"Hey"he said in a surprise tone
"Hi, looks like it's been a busy morning"she said
"Yea, I just got off the phone with the sponsor for your upcoming show actually" he told her
"Sounds good" she smiled, she looked around nervously
"Are you okay Sally"he walked over to her
"Ya, the girls were wondering why you weren't taking them to camp this morning. But I told them they would see you after"she told him
"Yes they will"Adam nodded and went over to his desk and sat down
Sally look down "I'm sure they'll have fun with you tonight"
"Did you want to discuss something"Adam asked
Sally shook her head "No, I was just thinking of... everything and I thought I come see you"she fidgeted with her bracelet
Adam just stared at her "How are you going to spend your evening alone"he asked
"Same as all the other times"Sally said trying to cry
"Sal"he sighed and tried to comfort her
"No I'm fine, it's fine"she said wiping her tears
"No you are not. You haven't been since that night"
Sally nodded "I know "she turned her head the looked back at him "If you take them to ranch just make sure Hadley doesn't ask for a horse"she gave a small laugh
"I won't, she doesn't need another one"he smiled
Sally went to leave and stopped at the door and turned back to face him
"Oh I almost forgot Connor said he is gonna stay with me tonight"she shrugged her shoulders
"I got his text, thanks" he nodded
"He told me it was because he was giving you time alone with girls, but I think we both know he is afraid to leave me"
"I'll talk to him"he said
Sally gave him a small smile then left
Adam sat back in his chair and sighed he couldn't believe this was their life now

   Sally walked into the house just as Connor was coming down the stairs. He was surprised to see her home this time of day
"Hey, I thought you said you had a busy day"he said
"I did, I do"she corrected herself "I just needed a break"she told him "Where you off too"she asked placing her things down
"Oh I'm hanging out with Johnny before work"he gave her a look "Unless you'd like me to stay"he said
Sally shook her head "Con, you know I love you. But it's not your job to worry about me or babysit me. I would like you to go be a teenager and have fun" she smiled
"I know, and I will. It's just since the separation, everything changed"
Sally took his hand "Connor,you know I'm the one who asked your father to leave, it was me who wanted the separation.Right"she asked
"Yes but Sally Dad could have fought it and he didn't"he said
"Look at me, I don't want you to dwell on this,your dad and I will work through this"she said trying not to cry. She gestured to the door "Now go have fun"she told him
Connor kissed her cheek as he passed her then left
  Sally walked into the kitchen and grabbed the bottle of wine. She grabbed it and placed it on the counter and just stared at it. Knowing she was by herself she fell apart and cried

   Sally was still crying and sipping her wine. She heard the door open and then Hadley's voice telling Adam she'd be right back. Sally quickly wiped her tears away, so Hadley wouldn't notice, Adam came in
"Sorry, Haddie forgot her bear"he pointed to the stairs
"For someone who can't go anywhere without that bear, she forgets it a lot" she chuckled
Adam noticed her tear stained face "Sally, come here"he said softly
Sally got up and went into his arms,he just held her
"You know it helps to talk about everything"he said into her
Sally pulled away "I do with my therapist"she said "But I can't with you, I'm not there yet"
"You haven't been able to talk with me, since the night it happened."he said looking annoyed
"Don't start Adam"she walked away and back to the wine
"It happened to me too Sally. And I let you call the shots every since, because I thought in some way you'd lean on me. But you pushed me away "his voice went up and he was pointing to himself "You have been leaning on the alcohol to numb everything" he said
Sally just glared at him, but before she could respond Hadley came in
"Got it Daddy"she said hugging her bear
Both Sally and Adam's body language relaxed so Haddie wouldn't catch on
"Okay great,go give Mommy a hug goodbye" he said avoiding Sally
Hadley ran over to Sally, Sally knelt down
"Bye Mommy, I love you" she said
"I love you too so so much" she squeezed her tightly "You and your sisters have fun and be good for Daddy"she kissed her "I'll see you tomorrow"she smiled
Hadley nodded and then gave her one more hug
"Go to the car, I'll be right there"Adam told her
Hadley ran out, Adam waited until she was outside to speak he looked back at Sally
"Can I say one more thing Sally"he asked
"Are you gonna call me an alcoholic" she snapped at him
"No,but I know this threw us for a loop, and I have watched you over come so many things. Watching you struggle with this it's killing me, and I'm afraid the more you bury yourself the harder it's gonna be to come out this"he gave her a sympathetic smile
"Maybe I'm not supposed too Adam. That night changed everything inside me and it's hard to get passed"she said
"I know Sally, but I think you have forgotten you aren't the only who's trying get passed it"he looked at her
"Maybe you're just better at it" she suggested
"No, you just never saw it"he nodded the walked out
                    ******************
   Since the separation Adam was staying at the tack house. And he had the girls every Wednesday nights and every other weekend.They were watching a movie, Mazie and Hadley were on the floor while Eden was laying next to Adam
"Daddy, can we get a puppy" Eden randomly asked
"Maybe some day Eddy"he kissed her head
"Maybe when you come home"Haddie said
"When are you coming home"Mazie  asked
"I can't answer that Mazie Moo, I wish I could"he told her
"Are you mad at Mommy"Mazie asked
Adam paused the movie and gestured for the girls to join him on the couch
"Do you girls remember when we told you I wasn't gonna be at home for a little bit"he reminded them
They all nodded
"Me coming to stay here for a little bit doesn't mean I'm mad at Mommy. Some grownup things happened and Mommy needed some space and Daddy  gave it to her"he looked at them
"Do you still love Mommy" Hadley asked
"Of course I do"he smiled
"Mama cries a lot"Eden told him
"I think she misses you" Mazie smiled
Adam rubbed Mazie's face, he knew the reason behind Sally's emotions. And wished she'd let him be there for her
"You know what let's go have some ice cream"he changed the subject
The girls got all excited and ran over to the kitchen, Adam picked up Eden and carried her over his shoulder and followed with her giggling

    Sally was laying bed trying to fall asleep, flashbacks of that horrible night running through her mind
Sally was crying as Adam  held her
"You weren't here Adam, it was awful I was alone"she cried in agony
"I know and I'm so sorry"he cried into her
"Finding out alone.. it felt like the room was spinning" she said as her voice was breaking
"I know and I wish you weren't I hate you were in another state"he said still holding her
Sally cried "I just want to go home,get me out of here"she told him
"I can do that"he kissed her head , he rocked her as tears fell down both their faces
   The phone broke Sally out of the  memories and answered it
"Hello"she said softly
"I'm sorry for calling so late. I'm here trying to put a little Bug of ours to bed and she wants to hear Mommy's voice"Adam told her
Sally smiled "Put her on"
"Hey Mama"she said in a sweet voice
"Hey my Bug, what's this I hear about you not being able to sleep yet"
"I miss you"she told her
"Oh I miss you too Bug. Did Daddy read you a story "Sally asked
"Yep two"she told her mother
"Two wow you lucky girl"Sally laughed "Did you he give you your goodnight kisses and hugs"Sally asked
"Yes,and I love you's "Eden told her
"That's good. Who loves you"Sally asked
"Mama and Daddy"Eden got all excited
"That's right,that won't ever change. And Connor Mazie and Haddie love you too" Sally said as she fixed her blanket
"Yes, but Mama and Daddy love me more" she said "I can't wait for when you both can tuck me in together at night" she said softly
Adam kissed her head when he heard that
"Goodnight Mama"Eden said
"Goodnight Eddy"she sent her kisses on through the phone
Eden handed the phone back to Adam and laid down
"Goodnight Sal"Adam said to her softly
"Goodnight"she said then hung up the phone
