"The baby.. where's the baby.. did I do something wrong"

   Adam was sitting in the waiting room, watching how everyone's life kept going as his was frozen in time as he worried about Sally. The sight of her passing out in his arms replaying over and over . Then watching his whole world being rushed back as he was told to wait. Also worrying about their baby too even though Elena reassured him everything was okay.He texted Coco to ask if she could pick up the girls but didn't tell her why.. he was afraid to
   Elena found him pacing the waiting room, he panicked when he saw her
"Why are you here..you should be back with her.. why aren't you with her"he said
   Elena gave him a sympathetic smile and gesture for him to come sit with her. He did and sighed
"The doctor on call wouldn't let me.. considering I'm too close of a friend to her"she looked at him and saw his worry "But she has one the best taking care of her... and the baby is being checked out as we speak"she said softly
"Can you at least tell .. What the hell happened because Elena with this waiting  my head keeps playing out these awful.. scenarios"he said all shaky "She seemed fine.. she was fine"
Elena quickly took his hand "I know ..what I know is she's lucky that baby came so fast"
He gave her a confusing look
"She suffered from what is called postpartum hemorrhage.. "
"Oh God"he got scared
"The good news is .. we got here in time"she smiled "They are going to give her blood transfusion to replace what she lost. And she'll be fine" she reassured him
Adam nodded then looked over at her "And the baby"he asked
Elena looked around "You know what .. why don't I bring you to the baby so you can wait for Sally with them"
Adam smiled "I'd really like that.. I just wish Sally was..with me" he said as tears fell
"She will be soon" she stood up "Come on Daddy"

Elena brought him into a private room, Adam looked confused
"Why am I here"he asked
"This is the room Sally will be brought into .. So you and the baby can hang out here"
A nurse followed a few seconds later wheeling in the baby. Adam got a huge smile on his face seeing his child
Adam walked over "Hey you .. I sure missed you"he said
"For being a month early this baby is absolutely perfect "the nurse said
"Well that's the Newman/Spectra genes for you" he chuckled
"Well once you and your wife pick a name we will update the bracelet"she smiled
"Thanks" he nodded then went back to the baby
"I'll give you time alone, but if you need anything call okay" Elena hugged him "And I'll be by later to check on her" she said
"Thanks for everything Elena"he looked back at her
Elena smiled then left
  Adam picked up the baby and walked over and sat in the rocking chair. He admired every feature of the baby 
"You had quite an entrance... into this world. You must have been so eager to meet us"he said softly, he looked at the hospital bracelet "Right now you are Baby Boy Newman"he paused "But soon as you Mommy joins us we will give you the perfect name"he caressed his little cheek "Oh your Mommy .. I don't know how she did it. She's a superhero. You came so fast you must have been on a mission.."he paused "You are totally my son" he joked
Adam held him closer "I can't wait for her to see how .. beautiful you are. You have Mommy's nose"he tapped it "I just can't tell if you have her eyes yet.But I'm hoping you do" he stared at him smiling

   A few hours later Sally was in the room. Adam was sitting next her holding her hand resting his head against it.She finally was starting to wake up. Everything was foggy.. when she saw Adam come into focus and realized where she was
"What happened"she said all groggy
Adam had tears in his eyes when he heard her "Hey, all you need to know is you're okay. I'm so happy to see those beautiful eyes" he smiled stroking her head
Sally smiled at him then rested her hand on her bump panic set in when she didn't feel the baby anymore
"The baby.. where's the baby..  did I do something wrong"she started hyperventilating "Where's our baby Adam"
Adam quickly sat on the bed taking her hands into his "Hey .. hey..hey look at me"she did "Our baby is fine .. they are here"
Sally was shocked "What .."looking around the room
"Do you.. do not remember Sally"he asked concerned
Sally thought for a second "I remember the pain.. did I have the baby at home and something went wrong"
Adam shook his head "Oh Baby" he said softly caressing her cheek "You um actually gave birth in your office and for the most part on your own"
Sally looked at him,the events from the labor came back to her "Oh ya, I remember it happened so fast"
Adam nodded "I know and I'm so sorry you had to endure all that on your own"
"What did we have .. is it another girl" she chuckled
Adam smiled and got off the bed and walked over picking up the baby "Mommy is finally awake .. you want her to hold  you  ... I know for a fact   she wants to hold you" he said as he came over. He smiled at Sally "Sally, meet our son"he said placing him into her arms
"Our son"she cried "we had a boy Adam" she looked at him
Adam sat beside he, resting  his head against hers looking at their son "Ya we actually did"
"He's okay right Adam him coming early ... there's nothing wrong" she asked
"No, he's fine.. He is perfect"he took his little hand "Yes you are"he smiled at him
Sally admired her son "Hey you"she smiled "You and me little one remember" she chuckled "We've been calling him Little one.. but he's not so little" she looked at Adam in surprised
"I know can you believe our son was eight pounds" he chuckled
"Wow really"she looked at him "I can't imagine what he would have weighed if he came on when was due"she said
"I don't know how you did it Sal"
"I don't either" she was emotional
He pulled her in and kissed her head
"We were so convinced we were having s girl.. we didn't even look at boy names" she chuckled
"I know .. we can't call him Shelby"he said
"I mean we could" she looked at Adam then back at the baby "But he doesn't look like a Shelby"she said
"You know" he laid closer to her "As I was waiting for you and holding him. I was thinking of names and I came up with one that I believe suits him"he said he took his little hand
"Do tell" she said softly
"I was thinking about his birth and how fast he came"he smiled at him "So fast.. he couldn't wait to meet us"
"No he could not"she was stroking his little nose "But how does that relate to a name"
"Vincent... You know for Vin Diesel .. fast and furious"he raised his eyebrows and smirked
"I like it" she looked at the baby "But it doesn't feel like his first name... you know"
"Okay Mama.. you try what is his name"he said nudging her
Sally looked at the baby "He needs a name that represents you"she looked at Adam
"Me,why me" he asked
"He's our son, I would love for him to be named after or for you"she looked at her son "He's probably our last baby.."she cried
"Oh Sal"he whispered wiping her tears away "I love you for that .."
"I'm not naming our son Victor ... I won't do that" she laughed
"I don't even go by that name anymore.. its all good"he smiled
"What about Wesley"she looked at Adam "Its got a western feel..you know for Kansas. We can call Wes"
Adam motioned for the baby, Sally gently placed him into his arms
"Wesley Vincent Newman.. It's a good strong name"he said
Sally rested her head on his shoulder "Like his Daddy"she said softly
"Connor, Mazie, Hadley, Eden and now Wesley our family feels complete now" he said
"Thank you Adam" she said running her fingers along Wesley's face
"Why are you thanking me.. I didn't give birth to him"
"No you didn't" she chuckled "But our son probably wouldn't exist if you didn't push to have another baby. And looking him now, I can't imagine him not being here .. you know"
Adam nodded "He was meant to be here"he stared at him
Sally looked at Adam and could tell "Adam what is it, you okay" she asked softly, trying to get his eye contact
"As I am holding him, I can't help think of Connor..you know" he said looking at him "I wasn't there when he was born .. I didn't even know he was..."
Sally squeezed his arm "But you didn't miss much of Connor's life which is what matters"she kissed his shoulder
"I know but being there for all of our kids birth.. seeing all of them take their first breaths..it's everything. I never got that with him "
Sally kissed his arm "You are a great father Adam" she smiled "I'm so blessed that my kids are your kids"
Adam leaned down and kissed her "Now it's my turn to thank you Sally"he handed Wesley back to her
"This morning I was feeling him elbow me and now I'm feeling him against my chest"she sighed
Adam looked at her "Sal, what do you remember"
"I remember feeling the contractions around 10:30 and by noon" she looked at Adam "I mean I probably was in labor before I actually felt it but"
He nodded
"I barely had any time to process what was happening. But those contractions were so powerful"
Adam pulled her head into him and held her "I know and I'm so sorry you had to go through all that all by yourself"he said softly as he ran his thumb along her cheek "But I'm not surprised.. because you are my badass wife" he chuckled
Sally laughed "Well if you say so"

  Sally was watching  Wesley in the bassinet and sighed. Adam came back into the room with food and drinks for them. He watched his wife admiring their son
"You know I can't wait for the girls to meet their new brother "he came over and kissed the top of her head
"I know Mazie will be happy"Sally looked at him and smiled
"Do you want me to call Coco, to bring them by.. they don't know yet" he sat down "I didn't want to worry them"
Sally shook her head "I want to go home Adam.. I want to take our son home and I want them to meet him there.. not here"she cried
"I know you do Sal, but you had an eventful day.. you deserve to rest and regroup"
"What happened"she looked at him
Adam took her hand "After you delivered Wesley.. everything seemed fine .. Then all of a sudden you passed out in my lap. Thank God Elena was with me because .. you were bleeding.. it was something called postpartum hemorrhage" he kissed her hand "I thought I lost you"he stared into her eyes
Sally slowly caressed his cheek "I'm right here Adam"
Adam nodded "Our son saved you Sal."he whispered
"How so.."
"With him coming the way he did"he paused "If  he took his time who knows.."he stopped with tears in his eyes
"If I had him at home.."
"I don't want to even think of it.."he said "And we don't have to"he sighed
"Okay and what would you rather do"she asked
"Hold my wife and take it all in that we had a son today"
Sally smiled and came into his arms. He wrapped his arms around her and began stroking her hair "How does it feel Sally" he asked softly
"Amazing" Sally exhaled "I think he looks like you" she said
"Nah, he is all you"he said"I never had  chubby cheeks"he added
"Well were you eight pounds"she looked up at him
Adam shook his head "Nope.. were you" he laughed
Sally have a small laugh "No I was tiny"
Adam rang his fingers through her hair
Sally was falling asleep "You good with watching him.. I don't want him in the nursery just yet" she said half asleep
"Of course.. you rest"he kissed her head "You deserve it after today,I'll hang with my boy"he said all proud as he held her until she was asleep

        As Sally slept Adam held Wesley who like Sally was asleep
"Oh Wesley.. I hope you are you ready to be loved by all your sisters. You also have an older brother who is going to love you too. But you and me we are out numbered at home" he whispered "We are lucky though because we are surrounded by the best girls"
Sally smiled listening to him
"We are so lucky Wes"he kissed him
