"That isn't the Newman way son"

Sally was sitting outside on the porch the next morning, sipping her morning coffee anticipating meeting this therapist. The sound of the waves calming her nerves. She heard car doors close and Wyatt and a woman about her age walk up
"Good morning Sally"Wyatt greeted her
"Morning" she said in a low tone. She looked over at the woman "Is this her" she asked
"Oh yes"he stepped aside for the woman to step forward "Sally, this is my friend Dr. Anderson"he told her
"Hello Sally"she said softly "You can call me Cindy"she smiled at her
"I'll leave you to alone. Is Wes inside"he asked
"Oh no, he went down to the beach"she turned in the direction of the ocean"she said in sarcastic tone, then laughed "He's still asleep"she pointed to the baby monitor
Wyatt smirked "Glad to see you haven't lost your sense of humor"he rubbed her shoulder "I'll go keep an eye on him. So you can focus on this" he told her
"Thanks, there's more coffee so help yourself" she offered
Wyatt nodded then went into the house
Cindy sat down across from Sally
"Can I offer you anything coffee, tea or water"Sally offered
"No I'm good thank you" Cindy smiled
"Just so you know I haven't agreed to anything yet, but if I did where to meet you"
"Sally, I do things a little different. I go where you feel comfortable. I feel like if you're relaxed then your open to express how you are feeling. I have come to learn being an stuffy office doesn't always help" she leaned in
"So let's say I wanted to go walk the beach or a run"Sally suggested
"Then I'll be there"she smiled "This is always about what's best for you. If that's what makes you comfortable then good"she told her
Sally nodded "So.."she paused "When would we start"she asked
Cindy gave her a warm smile "I got some time now"

   Sally and Cindy were walking on the beach. Sally wasn't talking at first she was lost in thought and Cindy was patient
"Wyatt said you've done therapy before"Cindy asked
Sally nodded "Ya, more other issues, I'd go occasionally but since my last baby..."
"I get it life happens. Can I ask what brought you out California"Cindy asked
Sally sighed "This place  used to be home"she looked at the water "The ocean ... used to be the place I could clear my head. So much as my husband bought us this house"she gave a small laugh "I'd have happy place..  his is Kansas"she told her
"He sounds amazing"Cindy told her
"Oh he is ... he would do any.. thing for me"Sally's voice broke
"Now you mentioned you have a baby.. Wes was it"Cindy asked
"Yes .. he almost three months" she told her
Cindy noticed the sadness in Sally's eyes "Is he your first" she asked
Sally shook her head "No he is my fourth we three girls,our seven year old twins Mazie and Haddie and Eden she's gonna be six soon"she smiled
"So this time around was be change for you when did it start .. of how you felt"
"When .. he was born"she looked at Cindy "Does that make a horrible person.. that I don't see him as mine"
Cindy took her hand "Sally, that's what I'm hear for you to help you work through this okay" she told her "I want to ask you something and I don't mean to upset you"
Sally nodded "Okay" she said softly
"When you are with Wes what exactly are feeling"
"I want to see what everyone else sees.. like his is my son, my baby"she paused and stopped walking "We wanted that baby.. I wanted that baby. He  was easiest pregnancy so I thought.."she couldn't finish
Cindy nodded "I need you to hear this okay. Things will get better. We will take it one session at a time"
"How can you be so sure"Sally asked
"For starters.. you wouldn't be talking to me if you didn't want things to get better"she smiled "Also, I have been where you are so I'm proof"
Sally smiled at her

  Adam arrived back in Genoa City late the next morning. He decided to try and go into work to distract himself with Sally and Wes away. He was getting ready when the doorbell rang
Adam groaned when he went to answer the door
"Dad,Nikki what are you doing here" he asked surprised to see them
"We apologize for showing up like this.. your father was impatient to see our newest grandson"Nikki told him
"Oh"Adam nervously looked around
This didn't go unnoticed to Victor
"Are they not here, I thought Sally was not back to work yet" Victor said
"She isn't but.."Adam paused. He knew he couldn't hide this from them "Come in there's something you two should know"
Victor and Nikki look at each other confused as they walked in
"I'm surprised you're not at work at this time of day"Victor said
"I'm actually going it late. Can I get two anything" he offered
"Just my grandson"Victor said sitting down
"Victor be nice and patient"Nikki said sitting next to him
"We both know Nikki being patient isn't Victor strong suit" Adam chuckled. He looked at his father "Buy I'm sorry dad seeing Wes today is out the question"he said looking sad
"Oh is everything okay.."Nikki noticed "Adam where's Sally is she okay"
Adam looked down at his hands "She um.."he was struggling to get it out "She took off a couple days ago with Wes" he said
"What.. what happened" she asked
"She's been struggling with a couple things after Wes was born. She seem to be distant with me and Wes."he began to cry
"Adam what happened I thought she was okay"
"Sharon thinks she could have been struggling with postpartum... Sally over hear and wasn't having it"
"Oh the poor thing she's been through so much"
Adam nodded
"Where is she"Victor asked
"Why does that matter."Adam asked
"So I can bring grandson home" he told him
" I just tell something happened with my wife and all you care about is Wes you don't even worry for Sally" Adam glared at him
"He isn't safe with her son.."he hollered
"My wife isn't unstable dad. She is struggling yes but she would never hurt that baby"he told him
"You can't be so sure Adam, you hear about those awful stories"
"Sally wants a bond with Wes,I know my wife"
"I know Adam"Nikki took his hand
"So do I"Victor said "This a pattern with your wife son, when things get tough for her .. she runs away. I mean look what happened when we thought we lost you. She ran to Kansas for God sake" he yelled "She took your son you should be pissed"he told him
"Wes is her son too. And you don't think I'm upset, you have no idea how much it kills me knowing she .."
"She what Adam"Nikki asked "Did something happen"
"She wanted to connect with Wes that's all she wanted. She felt like something was missing for her to feel that connection and love. I saw her struggling when she couldn't breast feed him like she wanted, she felt like failure. And I thought once we got through that... but I didn't see it until after. Part of me blames myself"he disc
"Don't say that son, this isn't on you"Victor told him
"It kind of is sad" he stood up "I wanted to have another baby. I mean after she wanted too but if I didn't suggest it. She wouldn't be alone and lost. She'd be here"he gestured around the house
"Adam"Nikki came up to him "Yes, you're right Sally wouldn't be so lost, but you two wouldn't have that little boy. Like you said Sally wanted him too. So don't blame yourself this isn't anyones fault"
Adam nodded and wiped his tears away
"Do you if she left to get help"she asked
"I'm not sure.. she didn't think she was suffering from postpartum. But I know someone is looking out for her and helping her. I just hope he helps bring her back to me"
"You know where she is.. that's at least good" Nikki said
"Ya, I had a feeling to where she was and I got confirmation last night. Sally is safe thank goodness, Wyatt Spencer informed me"
"Spencer"Victor questioned "Didn't she date him before coming to town"
Adam glared at his father "Don't dad, I know what you are thinking, this isn't what it looks like. Sally didn't leave me"

Sally returned from spending time with Cindy.She walked in and found Wyatt on the floor playing with Wes.Surprisingly a small smile came across her face
Wyatt looked up "I'm hoping that smile is for this little guy here"he said tapping his little noise
Sally stepped closer "It's actually for.. both of you. For you helping me and arranging this Dr. Anderson"she sat on the couch facing him "For staying with him. I hope he wasn't any trouble"she said
"Nope not at all, he is a little chunk he devoured his bottle"he tickled Wes's tummy
Sally place her hand on her chin "He gets it from his daddy"she said softly "You know I walk through that door and seeing him I realized I missed him"she smiled at Wyatt "I missed him Wyatt"she got tears in hear eyes
Wyatt came up next to her "That's something"
Sally leaned into him and sighed, Wyatt just held her
Sally pulled away after a few minutes "You probably have to get to work, I have taken up too much of your afternoon" she wiped her tears
"I don't mind Sally, in fact whenever you meet with Cindy I'd gladly watch Wes for you"
"I can't ask you to do that, you've helped enough already"she told him
"I really don't mind, besides who else are you gonna get to babysit" he chuckled
"Fair enough,thanks"she said softly
Wyatt got up and said goodbye to Wes then kissed the top of Sally's head and walked out
Sally looked over at Wes then got up and laid down with him
"I missed you" she said softly "Yes I did"she kissed his cheek. She then picked him up and laid him on her stomach "Baby steps" she whispered

Wyatt was driving to work, when called Adam
"Hey Adam it's Wyatt again"he said
Adam was eager "Hey is she okay" he asked
"She's doing okay. I wanted to keep you updated on things. I set her up with really good therapist and she..."
"Let me guess she wasn't a fan of it and upset about it"
"She was hesitant at first but you'd be pleased to know she agreed to it after. And Adam I actually saw a glimpse of the old Sally when she returned. She's coming back to you"
"That's really good to hear, thanks. Hey how is my son... is he doing okay" he asked
"Wes, he is good. He's in good hands... meaning Sally of course. But I think you already knew that" he laughed
"Ya I do. I just miss them. Thanks again for helping her out.. I just wish.." he stopped
"You wish it was you who was the one helping her"Wyatt answered for him
"Yes but sometimes the person close to you isn't the best person to help"Adam said
"I understand. I'll be in touch soon"he told him

Adam got off the phone with Wyatt. Victor and Nikki were still sitting there
"You are letting another guy help your wife. That isn't the Newman way son"
"That's enough" Adam raised his voice "You don't think I'm helping.. I'm staying away giving her space like she asked"he said "I'm doing what's best for my wife."
"But you're letting another guy who happens to be her ex"
"So I'm thankful it's someone who knows her like me"he looked at Victor and Nikki "You would do anything for Nikki if she was in trouble. So this is just like what you would dad"

Sally was sleeping and flashbacks of images were popping up.She couldn't make out what they were though. They were blurry, she heard screaming but couldn't make out the voice. She then heard her son cry and her yelling for her baby
"Where's my baby.. I can't find my baby" she mumbled
She shot up in bed breathing heavily. She bolted out of bed and ran into Wes's room, relief came over her when she saw him asleep
Sally leaned again the bar of the crib her breathing relaxing
"Why couldn't I find you"she whispered gently stroking his face
Sally decided to sleep in the rocking chair watching him sleep
