Our Love Always Finds A Way

"You don't want to give them false hope"

       *THIS IS A LONG ONE BUT WORTH IT*
   
     Adam and Sally returned home from the hospital a couple hours later. Adam was carrying Eden as the walked in. He went into the living room and sat  on the couch with her curled up in his lap
"We are home at last" he whispered to her and kissed her head
Sally set their things on the chair and watched Adam rock Eden
"I'm going to get her something to drink"she told him heading into the kitchen
"No Mama stay" Eden said all sleepy as she reached out for Sally
Sally smiled then came over and sat beside her "Okay Bug, I'm right here"taking her hand and kissed it
Eden moved over a little so she was close to both her parents
Sally wrapped her arm around Eden "It's going to be a lot of down time for the next few days and sadly that means no screen time" she told Eden
"Okay Mama"Eden said as she closed her eyes
A few minutes later she was fast asleep her head leaning on Adam's arm. Sally looked at her baby
"Why don't you got take her to lay in bed"she told him as she carefully moved her to Adam "I'll go call someone to go get Mazie and Haddie, to give Eden time with no noise"she kissed her cheek
"Sounds like a plan"Adam got up and headed upstairs

  Sally was in the kitchen when Adam returned, her back was turned
"She's all tucked in, safe in her bed. I did put a bucket incase she gets sick as the doctor said it might happen"
"That's good, thanks. I got Connor to pick up the girls. He said he'll take them to get pizza and possibly go to the arcade for a bit"she told him
Adam could tell she was struggling
"If you want I can take Mazie and Haddie back to the tack house for the night.So you can focus on Eden"
Sally turned around and broke down
Adam immediately went over to her
"Sally"he took her hands
"I know she's fine now.."her voice breaking "But getting they call it really shook me"
Adam pulled her into him and held her as she cried "I know any time one our babies are hurt it's scary"he said running his fingers through her hair "But Eden is going to be fine"he said softly
Sally just wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head into him "I'm so glad you were there with me"
"Me too"he kissed the side of her head

Later on Adam and Sally were on the couch with Eden in between them eating crackers
"So Eddy what would you like to do"Adam asked
"We can play go fish, we can read book"Sally leaned into Eden "I bet we can convince Daddy to do his funny voices"she whispered eyeing Adam
"Oh I can make a whole production"he took a bite of the cracker then smirked
Eden got up and went over to the shelf where they kept the wedding album. She pulled it out and went back over to them
Sally sighed "You never get tired of looking at this" she said taking it from her
Eden crawled onto Adam's lap. Sally moved over next to them. She opened it up and started to flip through it
"Who is this Eddy" Adam asked pointed
"Aunt Coco. Where is she" she asked looking at Sally
"Remember she went to visit Great Grams. She'll be back in a couple of days"Sally told her. She turned the page "Oh here are Mazie and Hadley, they were so little" Sally said "And here's..."
"CONNIE"Eden got all excited
Adam started laughing "Bug you act like he doesn't love here anymore"he said still laughing
Sally laughed "She loves her "Connie"Sally said leaning her head on Eden's head
"Where's Eden"she asked
Both Adam and Sally looked at one another knowing she asks this every time
"Remember Eden you weren't in Mama's tummy yet"he leaned in and whispered "But it wasn't long after this" he smirked at Sally
Sally turned the page and it was the picture of Sally at the end of the aisle in her dress
"Mama's a princess"Eden smiled
Adam hugged Eden "Yes Mama was a princess that day" he looked at Sally "She still is to Daddy"he added
This brought tears to her eyes
"I'm tired again" Eden curled up into Adam
"You sleep baby" Sally kissed her closing the book
"Does Daddy have to go" she asked looking up at Adam
Adam looked at Sally to respond
"No" she smiled "Daddy can if it makes you feel better" she said softly as she moved hair out Eden's face
"Okay good" Eden said before falling asleep

   They walked out of Eden's room and stood in the hallway in silence.Adam looking down
"Thanks for letting stay" he said
"Of course, no matter what we are going though we always put our girls first" she told him "Besides you know how our baby is with us"she smiled
"It's been that way since she was born"Adam said
"Yea it has"Sally added "I'll go make up the guest room so you don't have to sleep on the couch"Sally told him getting past him
Adam grabbed her arm to stop her "Sal, before you do that. Do you think we could have that conversation before the girls get home. Eden is probably asleep for the night"
"Adam,you really want to do this tonight" she asked
"I think we need to"he told her
"Okay, let's go down stairs"she told him heading to the stairs

Adam and Sally were sitting on the couch but not to close to each other. Sally looking at her tea
"Would you still like me to go first" he asked "Or are you ready to.."
"You go it's fine" she said
Adam took a deep breath "Getting that call did something to me. They would tell me what happened just that my wife was rushed to the hospital and needed to get there. I spent that whole flight to New York worrying if you were okay or even alive"
"The pain was so bad I truly thought I was dying"Sally said "And then everything went black"she said still not looking at him
"Sally, I can't even imagine how terrifying that must have been" he turned his body to face her
"I woke up in the room with this doctor I didn't know tell me I lost our baby" she said as fresh tears fell
"They shouldn't have told you without someone there, they knew your husband was on his way"he told her "Walking in that room I took one look at you, before you even said one word I knew our family was changed forever"
"I don't know what I did wrong"she said
Adam scooted closer to her "Sally, you did nothing wrong this wasn't your fault it was an ectopic pregnancy" he took her hand in his "I hate that you have been blaming yourself"he said
             *****Flashback*****
Adam walked into the hospital room the doctor just informed him of the emergency surgery his wife just had. Sally looked over at him her face blank, until her eyes met his then she cried
"Our baby.. our is gone" she cried
Adam went over to her immediately and held her
"I know .. i know" he cried too
"Why did this happen..how" she said as she buried her face into him
"I'm not sure Sal" he kissed her head " I'm just so glad I didn't lose you too" he said softly stroking her hair as he held her

Sally finally looked at him "That could have been our baby boy"she cried
Adam pulled her into him and held her
Sally leaned on Adams "I haven't been there for you Adam"she said as he was rubbing her arm "I have been over come with grief and anger towards you. I forgot you to lost that child" she said softly
"Sally look at me"he said pulling her up "It's okay"
Sally shook her head "No it's not. My therapist told me I may have gone through the physical pain of it but I'm not the only one in pain. So please talk me how do you feel"
"I was broken heart, but I was worried about you" he wiped her tears "It hurt not being able to grieve with you"
Sally nodded "I'm ashamed I realize it til our fight that I have been mad at you"
"The night you asked me to leave.. I had feeling there was a connection there"
Sally nodded "I'm sorry...."
                  **************
Their time alone was no more because Connor returned with the girls. Mazie and Haddie were excited to see Adam. Connor was curious to know what was going on to see his dad and stepmom emotional
"Daddy"Mazie said hugging him
"Hey Mazie Moo" he kissed her head and hugged her
"Sorry we are a little late" Connor told them
"It's okay it's summer"Sally said wiping her tears away
"Mommy are you okay"Hadley asked looking at her
"Oh I'm okay" she smiled "Mommy is fine. You know what it's almost time for bed, go up and get in your pjs."she pulled her in and kissed her head "You and Maz say goodnight to Daddy" she said
Mazie hugged Adam again "Night Daddy"she said
Hadley moved over on the other sirs and hugged him "Goodnight Daddy love you"
"Goodnight girls you both have the best dreams"he told them as he was hugging them
Sally saw how they weren't letting go "You two will see him in the morning"she told them
"Really are you back home"Mazie asked
Adam shook his head "No I'm just staying the night to be here to help with your sister"he told them
Mazie and Hadley nodded and ran up the stairs giggling
"Girls be a little quieter, Eddy is sleeping"Sally told them
Connor made his way in front of Adam and Sally, who still were sitting close to each other
"Do you think it's wise for Dad to stay the night"he asked
"Why do you ask Con" Sally said
"You don't want to give them false hope"he told her
"Con, I understand your concern in this but I promise things are looking up"Adam said
"I have been in their shoes many times Dad. With you and mom. One time I even tried to get you two back together. But every time it didn't last and I got hurt and I don't want that for my sisters"he pointed to the stairs "So please spare all promises"he said then left the room
Sally moved away from Adam "Your son has a point"she wrapped her arms around herself "You make promises" she looked away
"Every promise I made you I meant them Sally" he told her
"Fine, but some promises you can't fulfill no matter how hard you try"Sally got up and headed to the stairs
"Sally what just happened here, we were actually talking everything out it's like we were finally moving forward and now we are back to that night"Adam said standing up
Sally turned to him "Hope you sleep well"she ran out of the room

During the night Sally was woken up by Eden crying which surprised her because Eden hardly cried. She jump out of bed and ran to her room
"Mama"she cried when she saw her
"Eden's Mama's here" she said as she sat on the bed "Did you feel okay... did you have a bad dream" Sally asked softly rubbing her face
Eden clung onto Sally "Daddy's gone" she cried
"Oh no no no, Daddy's here. I'll go get him"she hugged her "You know how Daddy sleeps"she laughed a little then kissed her forehead "Mama Will right back

Sally knocked on the guest rooms door even though she knew it wasn't going to wake him up. She walked into the dark room
"Adam" she said making her way to the bed. She placed her hand on his shoulder "Adam wake up"she said again
"What... Sally"she came into focus for him "What's wrong"
"I think Eden had a nightmare,she needs you" she told him
Adam got out of bed and followed Sally to their little girls bedroom
Eden sat in bed holding her bunny as tears still fell
"I got Daddy he is here" Sally said coming back in sitting next to her
"What's going on Bug"Adam said sitting on the other side of her
"Daddy was gone" she whispered
"Oh no I'm right here"he told her
"No you never came home you were gone forever"
Sally's heart broke hearing this, she looked away to hold back tears
"Eden it was only a bad dream okay"he hugged "And bad dreams don't come true" he said kissing her head
As he rocked her back to sleep he watched Sally who was tense. She quickly kissed Eden then left the room

Adam closed Eden's door and saw Sally leaning against the wall hyperventilating
"Sally what's wrong" he came in front of her
"This is my fault. I handled this all ..wrong"she started crying
Adam went to pull her in to him but she pushed him away
"No I don't deserve to be comforted"she walked away
Adam immediately followed her downstairs. He found her standing in the kitchen in the dark. It reminded him of that night of their fight
*****Flashback*******
"Sally I don't know how to help you, tell me what you need to help take this pain away" he pleaded
Sally turned around "You can't this time you can't fix this. I lost a baby, a baby I barely got to carry"she cried
"I lost that same baby Sally. We should be grieving together, healing from this together"Adam wrapped his arms around her from behind
Sally pulled out of his hold "No I can't.I need you to leave"she turned away from him
"What Sally.. no" he could believe what he heard "We can get through this and the only is together"
"You weren't with me when I lost it so you be here"she told him
"This the pain talking you don't mean that"
"You asked what I needed... I need you gone" her tone turned to anger "Can the great Adam Newman do that..hmm"
"Sally you are acting like I cheated on you.. I did nothing but love you"
"You promised me I'd never to face anything alone"
"Sally I was right there with you as soon as I could"he went closer to her
"I'm sorry I can't get past finding out alone"She looked down "It's not forever or I hope it's not .. I just need space to breathe and heal"
"So you have been thinking of this option for a while.... when did you decide this Sally"
Sally didn't look at him
"What are we going to tell the kids on why Daddy isn't here"he asked
"I'm not keeping you from them Adam I wouldn't do that" she cried
"No you just want me away from you"he looked pissed "I'll go pack a bag" he walked away

Sally's crying pulled Adam out of the memory
"Sally"he said softly
"I'm a horrible person I was more concerned about my pain that I broke our family"she said staring out the window
"Sally you did nothing wrong"he told her
Sally turned him "Why didn't you fight hard, you just let me throw out of the house"
"I couldn't bare the thought of losing you more by holding onto tightly.You needed space... from me, for you to heal. Because I love you I gave it to you"he told her
"I shouldn't have pushed you away. It wasn't fair to you."she told "I'm sorry" she whispered
Adam walked over to her afraid to touch her at first
Sally looked down "I think deep down I wanted to lean on you and grieve with you"she stepped closer "I was so broken that I thought I needed space from you to heal Adam"she looked up at him "But I was wrong"she placed her hands on his waist "I'm ready to start healing" she rested her forehead against his "Together" she said softly
Adam wrapped his arms around her and kissed her

Adam carried Sally up to their bedroom, still making out. Sally moved over to his neck. They fell on to bed. Sally straddling him removing his shirt, Adam ran his hands up her back before bringing her back to his lips
They made love for the first time in months.Reconnecting like there was no tomorrow
"Please don't stop this time" Sally pleaded as he was kissing her neck
Adam pulled back "Don't worry I don't plan to ever stop"he caressed her face lovingly "I love you"he said
"I love you too"she smiled "Now show me how much"she said bringing him back into her
