"This isn't goodbye"

The next morning Adam woke up to Sally's side of the bed empty. He looked around and panic set in when he didn't see Wes, he shot out of bed and ran to Wes's room to find that empty as well
"SALLY" he called out as he ran downstairs
Relief came when he saw that Wes's was in his swing. He heard noises in the kitchen. Adam walked in and saw Sally making breakfast
Sally looked back and saw him watching her "What's wrong" she asked
"You scared me, when I didn't see you and Wes this morning" he sighed
Sally gave him a smile "Oh he was fussy.. so I brought him down here. You know so you could get some more sleep"she came up to him with a mug "Coffee" she gave him a kiss on the cheek
Adam looked at his coffee before speaking "About work" he paused "I'm thinking I should work from home for a bit"he told her
"Adam you don't need to babysit me with my own kid"she sounded annoyed
Adam set the mug down "After last night.. the things you said and now you are acting like nothing happened so I think I do"
"I'm sorry.. I had a bad day. Hearing you talk to Sharon about your worries.. about me. I don't know why but I know I said things I didn't mean."she ran her hand down his arm
"Im sorry too, I shouldn't have discussed personal things with Sharon it's just..."
"Easier to talk to her"she gave him a small smile "I get it, I haven't been the easiest lately. I'm actually going to call my therapist today to set up an appointment"
Adam pulled her into him "I'm proud of you" he kissed her forehead then went to kiss her lips
Sally pulled away "You should probably get ready for work"she went back to cleaning "You know if it would make you feel better I could call Elena to come by so I'm not alone all day" she quickly glanced at him
"You don't have to Sal. I trust you"he said softly

Adam was holding Wes as he said goodbye to him
"Okay daddy has to go to work so you need to be good for mommy and don't do anything cute while I'm not here"he said as he gave him a bunch of kisses
Sally was watching from the doorway
with her arms crossed
"Maybe mommy will bring you by"he smiled back at her
Sally smiled back "Maybe" then looked away
Adam walked over and handed Wes to her. Sally looked down at him
Adam cupped her face to get her to look at him "You know you can call me if you need anything right even if it's just to hear my voice .. because you are more important then N+S"
"We will be fine"she said softly
Adam gently kissed her lips "I love you"
"I know" she said
Adam kissed Wes one more time before leaving
Sally began to cry "You know Wes, saying goodbye just now hurt"

Adam was in his office setting pictures of the family around his desk. There was one with the whole family, one of him with Wes, one of just Wes and his favorite the one of him and Sally with him. He sat there smiling at it when Audra walked in
Adam spun around "Good morning Audra how are you"
"Good how are you"she said coming up to the desk
"I'm good"he looked at Sally's picture "It's weird being here without Sally"he said
"How is she"she asked
"She's"he paused "She's doing okay .. today was a good day"
Audra gave him a confusing look but didn't ask anything further "Are you planning on easing in on the work or diving right in"she said looking down at her folders
Adam nodded "Let me see"he motioned for her to hand them to him
"With Sally out on maternity leave .. her line is paused and sales seem to have dropped"she told him
"That happens I'm not worried"he told her
Audra handed them to him and sat in the chair
"The podcast views are incredible though I was thinking we could start doing videos of them filming some behind the scenes. People love to see all that other content"
"That sounds great.. I'll leave you to it"
Audra looked her phone "I need to get going to my 10 o'clock meeting"
"Alright, see you later" he said

   Sally was running around in the bedroom packing her suitcase as she was talking to Wes
"If mommy planned this correctly we only have a couple hours before Elena comes over"she told Wes "By the time she comes to the house to "check" on me. You and me will be on the plane"her voice was breaking
Sally went over to Wes who was in his car seat with his diaper bag and suitcase next to it "Hopefully with a change of scenery and quality time will help"she said bending in front of her " I just hope daddy doesn't hate me for taking you away"
Her phone went off, she looked over on the bed and went to it and sighed
"It's daddy"she said as she got tears in her eyes "Hello" she said softly
"Hey, how are you doing" he asked
"Good l, I just fed Wes he is now down for his second nap"she glanced at him but he was wide awake
"Our boy really loves his naps"Adam chuckled
"Ya he does"she said "So how is work" she asked as her finished up packing
"It's funny how having changes how you look at things.. it's work it's nothing like being home with you and Wes"
"Ya but you are a Newman work is in your blood, so you would probably never last as a stay at home dad" she joked
"You're probably right .. same goes for you Spectra"
"Adam"Sally started to say
"No Sally I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset you"
"You didn't it's just with Wes sleeping I should probably try and sleep too or clean so I should go"
"Of course I'll see you both later. How about I bring you home your favorite take out" he suggested
"You are so good to me" she said softly
"I love you" he said
"I love you too" she said
They hung up and Sally stood there letting her tears fall. She looked at Wes
"You ready to go bye-bye with mommy"she picked up his car seat "I hope you like the warm weather and the sound of the ocean"she said softly "Mommy is taking you to the place where mommy feels like herself, maybe then I can have a bond with you because mommy really really wants that Wesley Vincent"she said walking out of the room
She stood in the living room "I don't think I can do it here. I just really hate I'm taking you away from daddy. It's not what I want and he doesn't deserve to miss anything in your life"she cried "He still struggles not being there for your brother in the beginning"
Sally got a notification "That's the car, come Wes"Wes was finally asleep
   Sally went over and sent down a letter on the coffee table. She then took one last look around the house
"This isn't goodbye"she whispered

   Elena arrived at the house a little while later. She grabbed the lunch she brought for them. She went to the door
She got a little worried when there was no answer
"Sally it's Elena"she called out
There was still no answer, she tried calling her and it went straight to voicemail. Elena started to look for a spare key
"Sally you better open up because I'm about to call Adam and I know how you don't like when he gets in his over protective husband mode. And I don't need him on my case as well"
There still was no response
"Okay I warned you" she said calling him

  Adam was in the middle of something when his phone went off. He was surprised to see it was Elena calling considering she's supposed to be with Sally
"Hey Elena" he answered "Weren't you going to see Sally, is she okay" he asked
"Um Adam .. that's why I am calling. I just got here her car is here.. but there's no answer at the door" she told him
Adam's heart dropped into his stomach he quickly grabbed his keys "I'm on my way" he told her as he ran out

  He pulled into the driveway in a rush. Elena was pacing the porch
"I know I could have broken in and I tried calling and it kept going straight to voicemail" she told him
" I know I tried too" he told her running the door quickly putting the key in and opened the door
"SALLY .. SALLY"he called out running up the stairs
"Sally it's Elena .. where are you"she yelled
Adam was searching each room coming up empty and panicking even more
"Where are they" he said as he rushed around the house
He came back in the living room, Elena met him who was coming from outside "Adam she isn't here what could have happened" she asked
"I might need to call Chance"
"Chance" she questioned "Adam what do you think is wrong.. there's no sign of a break in. Could she have taken him for a walk or something"Elena stated
"I know but something is wrong I can feel it"he told her getting out his phone
Before he could finish dialing and envelope caught his eye. He walked over and saw his name with Sally's handwriting on it . He opened it and began reading ..
Dear Adam,
Writing this letter is probably the hardest things I ever did. By the time you see this I'll be away. Now before you start to worry your son is fine he is safe, but I think deep down you know that and that I would never hurt him. I just have been struggling to find my bond with him. I originally was going to leave on own, but after I heard you talk to Sharon I thought if I just went away just me and him maybe i could see what you see. I hope you have it in your heart forgive me. I hope we won't be gone long., I know I have no right to ask this .. but please don't find me don't be the hero in this. My goal is to be home before our girls return. Just remember I love you Adam and I hope you still love me after this.

Adam stood frozen rereading the letter as he cried
"Adam what is it"Elena came over "Did she say where she is"
"She's gone"he barely got out
"What gone where...why" she was confused
"It doesn't say"he sat on the edge of the coffee table "But she left  .. she left with my son"

*I promise it's gonna get better just a couple more chapters*
