Our Love Always Finds A Way

"And you could never waste my time when it comes to spending it with you"

Adam and Sally walked out of her therapist office in silence, they made their way to the car, before anyone said anything. Sally stood at her car door, Adam was trying to get eye contact with her
"Sally are you okay" he asked in a low tone
"I feel like I wasted your time"she said
"How about we go somewhere and get drink"he offered
Sally just nodded
Adam opened her door and she got in,he looked at her a second before getting in the drivers side
"Society or the Club" he suggested
"Athletic Club is fine" she said then looking out the window

They sat at the bar awkwardly staring at their drinks both afraid to say the wrong thing
"Sally"Adam said still looking at his drink
Sally looked over at him
"I noticed during the session today you were fidgeting when the doctor tried talk about that night. And I know you well enough to recognize you wanted to talk about it.."he said
"I did, I thought I was ready, I mean I asked you to come, but when we got there something held me back and couldn't"
"I understand like I said when this happened"he looked at her "I'm here Sally always here for you"he placed his hand on hers "And you could never waste my time when it comes to spending it with you"he smiled
Sally slowly nodded "After everything I put you through, you amaze me" she said softly
Adam sighed and sat back "So, are you coming to the ranch to pick up the girls later or do you want me to drop them off"he asked
"I know it's not your schedule day with them, but they can spend the night"she offered
This concerned Adam and looked at her confused
"Sally, are you sure you are okay"he eyed her drinking
"I'm fine. I just thought since they are there and it's already dinner time, they could stay. Unless you don't want them too"
"I'll never say no to spending time with our kids" he told her
Sally ran her finger a long the rim of her glass "Great, I'm sure they'll have a lot of stories to tell you about their day.Between Haddie going horseback riding with Nikki"she said
"Oh yes, she was so excited our little animal lover. And wasn't Mazie learning chess today" Adam asked
"No didn't you hear her tell Victor she was teaching him ballet" she giggled
"Oh remind me to look at the cameras later"he chuckled "I bet she is gonna make him wear a tutu"he suggested
They went back to silence not looking at her
"Since they will be staying with you, you should come get Eddy's bunny"she told him
Adam took a sip of his drink "You know it's been three months since this arrangement and it seems like you and the kids are handling better then me"he told her not looking at her
Sally tried not to cry "We should get going" she said getting up
Adam stayed for a second watching her walk away before following

Sally opened the door with Adam not to far behind he had a safe distance between them
"Her bunny should be in her room"she told him not looking at him and making her way to the kitchen
Adam nodded and headed up stairs. When he returned he found her chugging her glass of wine. He walked over to her and took her glass away
"I'm going to make you some coffee"he said walking into the kitchen
   Sally was sitting on the couch lost in thought when he came back
"Here this is better"he said handing it to her
Sally groaned and reluctantly took the mug "I know you are concerned about how much I have been drinking"she said
"Sally, I love you and I worry about how you coped with this. I should have said something when I noticed but you were so lost in the beginning I was afraid too. This kills me to see you lean on alcohol to numb what ever you are afraid to let go of. This didn't just happen to you Sal, it happened to us"he added "I worry with everything that happened you regret it and wish it didn't happen in the first place"he looked away from her
Sally watched him trying not to cry "Adam, I don't regret it, how could I regret something I loved and wanted"
Adam turned to her and smiled
Sally taped her mug "Back at the club, when you said it seemed like me and the kids were handle this a lot better then you"she looked over at him "Only the kids are" she said softly
"Sally" he put his mug down on the coffee table "Please talk to me it's the only way we can get through this chapter" he said moving closer
"You don't think I want to Adam. I tried today and I froze"she cried "I'm so tired of feeling this way"she choked on her words
Adam carefully wiped her tears away and took her hand in his "Maybe because deep down you know we do better talking when it's just us"he said
Sally looked down "For three months I would think about our life together replaying everything that happened the good"she paused "And bad" she added "When I think about that night , I realized I have never dealt with something like this... but you have"she looked up at him
"Sally, is this the big reason you pushed me away because I understood this better"he looked puzzled "That's the more reason to lean on me"he smiled "You mean everything to me please let me start helping you"he said
   Sally just crashed her lips into his. Adam was surprised but didn't stop her because he missed her lips on his. Adam deepened the kiss and wrapped his arms around her tightly. Both of them hungrily making out. Adam lower her down on the couch and hovering over her, he began to kiss her collarbone as she gripped his shirt tugging it letting him know she wanted it off him. Adam quickly removed it then went back to her. He got a whiff of the alcohol and stopped and pulled away
"We can't do this Sally"he started to put his shirt back on
Sally sat up "But you said you wanted to help me"she said
"Baby you know I do"he caressed her cheek "But this way not now. You had to much to drink tonight and I know your heart isn't there yet to do this"he held back tears and grabbed the bunny to head out
Sally followed him "Adam wait"she called for him
Adam stopped and stood with her back facing her
"I admit, I have coped with this probably not in the best way. But that night and everything about destroyed me"
"Sally,you don't think I noticed"he turned around "It killed me to watch the woman I love  basically lose herself. And I'm not blaming at all, but what hurts is it's like you blame me, since that day you have this wall up for me"he stepped forward "And I didn't do anything but love you"he raised his voice again
    Sally just went up to him and went and kiss him, pushing him up against the wall. Adam cupped her face and continued to kiss her. Adam turned her and leaned her back onto the table. Adam gripped her thigh bringing it up a little. Sally ran her hands up his back. Adam pushed back a little more causing things to fall. This broke the kiss, they glanced at the floor, both being reminded of their first time and chuckled
   Adam went back to kissing her, he began to unbuttoning her blouse. He the grabbed her and bringing her to the ground. Both lost into the moment. Then something caught Adam's eye, he pulled out of her hold, confusing Sally
"Adam, what is it,why did you stop"she asked trying to catch her breath
Adam didn't respond he reached over and picked up a piece of paper
"Adam say something"Sally said
"When you finally asked me to come to therapy I was like "This is great she's finally ready to talk about everything and heal" " he said standing up still looking at the paper in his hand
"I did that was what I had planned I told you" she said anxiously confused
Adam nodded still not looking at him "That's what you said, but I don't believe you after seeing this"he finally looked at her "Were you planning on telling me it's over,you want to end our marriage" he held up the divorce papers
Sally's heart sank and went to grab them from Adam but he pulled them away and walked away from her
"Adam I can explain, please" she pleaded
"Oh can you Sally, because you haven't been able to express how you feel for months"he raised his eyebrows at her
Sally was at loss for words
"Give me a pen" he said sternly
"No Adam, I don't want.."
"Oh you don't want a divorce, you don't to destroy this family"he yelled "These papers say other wise"he held the up
"Please Adam, you got it wrong i those drawn up in the beginning of everything.. "
Adam shoved them at her "You know the night of our fight when kicked me out because it hurt to look at me."he shook his head "Now I know how that felt, because I can't look at you"he grabbed Eden's bunny and stormed out
Sally broke down on tears and crumbled to the ground

   Sally was sitting on the couch still crying when her phone rang
"Hello" her voice breaking
"Sally what's wrong"Coco asked
"I'm so stupid Coco what was i thinking" she cried
"Sally slow down and tell me what's the matter"
"Me and Adam were having an intimate moment and we knocked over things... I should have gotten rid of them because Adam hates me" she choked
"Sally, have been drinking because you aren't making sense" Coco asked
"Why you too, I had two glasses with Adam by the way "she told her sounding annoyed
"Okay sorry,what happened what did Adam see"she asked
"He saw the divorce papers" she said
"Sally, I thought you changed your mind, I thought things were looking up" she asked
"I did, I just never got around to throw them away" she was crying
"Sally are alone" she asked
"Yes, Adam stormed out he is so mad at me.Coco what was I thinking... I mean I wasn't if my first instinct was to end our marriage.. I don't want lose him"she said
"Sally"Coco stopped her "Adam needs to hear this, maybe this made realize he is only who can bring you back from this" Coco told her sister
"I was planning on it today in fact. Coco why did this happen to me"
"It happened to Adam too. I love you but it's time to finally break down this protective wall and let him in and tell him what's bothering you"

   It was late in the night when Adam's phone rang. He noticed it was Sally and he shot up and quickly answered it
"Sally are you okay" he asked when heard crying
"Adam, I don't want divorce" she told him
"Talk to me Sal" he said softly
"I have been in so much pain and I didn't want you to be attached to this person who isn't the woman you married"
Adam let her keep talking
"Being with you today felt like old times.Bonding over drinks  it made me forget for a little bit what we been through. Adam we will get through this. I may be the reason we are apart but I not giving up this time I promise" she said softly "I love you"
"Sally I love you too" he said before hanging up
