"She beat it, she had her whole life ahead of her Sally"

  It has been a couple of days and Hadley was about the same which worried Sally, because the doctor hasn't called them back. Her fever would go down for a few hours the spike back  up. Sally had enough of the waiting she was frantically getting ready when Adam came into their bedroom
"Sally, what are you doing"he asked
"I'm taking our daughter back to the hospital, clearly something is wrong. And I want answers" she said
Adam nodded "Okay I'll call your sister to pick them up at school incase we are still at the hospital"he said stopping her placing his hands on her shoulders
They stayed like that for a second, then Sally went to get Haddie ready
   Sally walked into the girls room
"Mommy I don't feel good"she said softly
"I know, that's why Mommy and Daddy are taking back to see the doctor to find out why Bean" she said soothing her
Hadley sat up "No more shots" she said hugging her Mommy
"I can't promise you that, what I can promise is Daddy and I will be with you"she whispered
Adam came into the room "She said she'll pick them up even if we are home" he told her
"Her fever is back Adam" Sally told him
Adam came over and picked up Hadley "Come on let's go" he kissed her forehead

  They arrive at the hospital, Sally ran up to the desk
"Can I help you" the receptionist asked
"Yes, my name is Sally Newman and I brought my daughter in a couple of days ago. She has had a fever and constantly tired. The doctor was running tests on her and this hospital hasn't gotten back to us with results"she raised her voice "And clearly she isn't any better, I demand some answers NOW"she slammed her hand on the desk
The nurse looked over at Adam
"You would have gotten the same speech and more from me if I wasn't holding her"he told her
She nodded "Let me call a nurse to come get you"she picked up the phone

  A few minutes later they were in the room. The doctor came in
"Mr and Mrs. Newman I'm so sorry for the wait on the results"
"Do you have them, do you know what is wrong with her"Adam asked
"I don't have a definitive answer yet"she told him
"But you clearly think it could be something" he asked
Sally was laying in the bed with Hadley holding her
"There was some unclear markings in Hadley's blood stream, that I would like to test again. To see if there is something wrong with her bone marrow" she told
"What could be causing that"Sally asked
"Once we test her bone marrow we should be able to figure it out"she gave them a small smile
"I don't want a shot"Haddie cried
"Oh I promise you I have the best nurse who does it and you don't feel it" she reassured her "I'll be back" she walked out
Adam came over and sat on the bed
"We are getting answers now" he told both Sally and Hadley
Sally rested her chin on Hadley's head "My poor baby" she said

A little bit later a nurse came in to take Hadley, who had fallen asleep
"Bean, Mommy and Daddy will be right here"Sally kissed her "We love you"she whispered
"Yes we do Bean" Adam gave her a kiss
The nurse wheeled her out of the room. Adam took Sally into his arms
"She's going to be okay" he said softly hugging her

  They were still waiting in the room, Sally was pacing the room. Adam was in the chair anxiety waiting too
"How long can one test take"Sally said
"I know I hate the waiting too, but the doctors need to make sure everything is okay"
"Well they can check everything they want Adam, but I want to be with my daughter. I need to hold my little girl"she cried
Adam pulled her by her belt and held her. She relaxed rubbing his head

    Hadley came  back in the room she was awake a little bit, Sally bent down to kiss her
"Hey my Bean"she said
"Mommy where's Daddy" she said all groggy
Adam came over to the bed "I'm right here baby"he smiled at her
"Can we go home now"she asked
"Hopefully soon okay. The doctors just to find out why you are so tired and how we get you better"Sally told her rubbing her face
"Why don't you takes a rest and dream about anything" Adam took her hand
"You won't leave me"she looked at them
"No, no,no Daddy and I aren't going anywhere, we'll be right here"she smiled
Hadley curled up on her side and fell asleep

The doctor came in both Sally and Adam shot up, taking one look at her
"Are the results in"Sally asked
The doctor nodded
"Tells us"Sally sighed looking at her sleeping daughter
"Let's step outside and talk"she motioned to the door
"No, not happening I told my little girl I wasn't leaving her"Sally took a deep breath "And if you want to step outside that must mean it's..bad news"her voice was breaking
"Doctor what's wrong Haddie"Adam asked
The doctor looked at the folder "When we tested her bone marrow the results came back to what I suspected"she paused "I'm afraid to inform you both that your daughter has Acute Myelogenous Leukemia"
Those words echoed in both Adam and Sally's brains
Sally held up her hand "No, there must be a mistake you got the wrongs results"she was shaking
Adam came over to her "I'm sorry can you repeat that"he wrapped his arm around her
"Your daughter has form of Leukemia... it's treatable"she told them
"I need a minute" Sally ran out of the room
Adam stood up more and crossed his arms "How do we treat this, how do we get her better"he asked
"Hadley is going to need bone marrow transplant and undergo chemotherapy" she told him "Usually a family member close to her is the best match"she added
"Done, me and my wife will get tested"he said
"She has better outcome if it's a sibling, some times a parent is a less chance at being a match"
"She a twin sister"he looked at her "Could she be.."
"I'll give a minute to process everything and be back later"she told him and walked out

Sally came back in the room looking completely lost.Adam was sitting with Hadley. When he heard the door close he turned and gestured for Sally to come sit with him. She slowly came over
"I'm so sorry I left, Mommy told you I wouldn't"she softly said
Adam lean closer clasping his hands together "The doctor told me she's going to need a bone marrow transplant. That she has a better chance of a match with a sibling..."
Sally shook her head "No I'm not putting Mazie through that"she back away from him
"Sally it could save our daughters life"he said
"No, we'll get tested and hope for the best" she took Hadley's hand
Hadley opened her eyes "I'm a better now"she asked
Sally looked over at Adam with tears in her eyes
"Not yet baby,but we know is wrong and have ways now to help you"Sally told her rubbing her cheek
"Can we go home" she cried
"Not yet I'm sorry the doctors need us to stay where it's safe from germs"

Both Adam and Sally were in the waiting room after getting tested. Adam was staring out the window
"What happens Adam if we aren't a match for her" Sally asked
"We will ask everyone to test"he said not looking at her
"Adam what is it"she asked
"Do you believe in karma"he said
"Why do you ask" Sally came up to him
"The same thing happen with Delia..."he went quiet
"Oh Adam"she sighed
"She beat it, she had her whole life ahead of her Sally"he looked over at her "And then.."
Sally wrapped her arms around him from behind and kissed his shoulder "This is not your karma Adam. I know it's probably bringing everything back up for you"she said softly rubbing the back of his neck
He leaned back into her "It honestly never left me..."
Sally just held him "Let's go be with our girl okay"she told him
Adam turned around and cupped her face placing a kiss on her lips

Adam was laying bed with Hadley this time as Sally looked on
"Hopefully one of us will be a match and she can be on the road to recovery and back to her old self"Adam said stroking Hadley hair
The doctor came in "Mr. and Mrs. Newman"
"That was fast the results are in is one or both of us a match"Adam asked
"We tested yours first Mr Newman and sadly it came back not a match for her"
Adam hugged Haddie "I'm sorry Bean"he kissed her forehead
"And mine" Sally asked
The doctor turned to her "Mrs Newman, we tested you and it came back with 25% match"
"Oh my God, I'm a .. your saying I'm a match"Sally was getting emotional
Adam came over to her "Baby you are going to save our daughter"he got all excited and hugged her
"Mr and Mrs Newman" the doctor broke up the moment "Yes it's true Mrs Newman is a match but unfortunately she won't be able to donate"
Adam and Sally pulled away in shock
"Why can't I, I'm healthy. I never did any sort of drugs or anything" she was frantic
The doctor gestured for her to stop "When we tested you something came up in your blood work. So I did another test on you" she told her
"Is there something wrong with my wife too"Adam asked grabbing Sally's hand
"Sally I think it's best if you both sit down with what I'm about to tell you"
"No I'm good" she nodded "Just tell me the bad news"
"It's not bad news at all" she said
"If I can't help my daughter then what you are about to tell me is bad news because it's stopping me from saving her"she told her
The doctor nodded "After getting results on the second test on Sally it was confirmed" she looked at the chart "You are about five weeks pregnant"
Sally fell into Adam in shock
"Which is why we can't allow you to donate"
Sally went over and cried onto Hadley
"I'm so sorry Bean Mommy is so sorry"she cried
Adam covered his mouth taking in the latest information "Um thanks we need a minute to digest this"he told the doctor
"Of course, I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but congratulations" she said and walked out
Adam just stood there watching Sally fall apart
