Miyagi-Do was taking loss after loss, each one forcing them further down the leaderboard. Syd didn't understand how it was happening, but every time Robby got on that mat he'd look at Tory and lose it all.
And because of that, every time he'd lose Kreese would smirk Syds way, sending chills down the girls spine.
She could empathize with Robbys struggles, knowing that the switch up was hard on everyone. But she was getting progressively more upset the more he let them all down. It seemed like Cobra Kai and the Iron Dragons had this first day down, while Miyagi-Do was falling behind and fast.
When it came time for the bow-staff competition, Syd was ready. She took a step forward, breathing deeply as she got ready to fight with everything she had in her. She felt like she needed to show everyone just how much she deserved to be captain, so that's what she'd do.
"McKinley, let's see you wipe the floor with your competitor." Sensei Lawrence spoke, watching as the girl bowed to the mat. "Stay focused, Syd." Mr. LaRusso added.
"Don't be afraid. Get in there. Get in there. Be aggressive. Show 'em who's boss." Sensei Lawrence cut in, the two Senseis very clearly giving the girl mixed messages. "Just take it slow." Mr. LaRusso spoke after.
Syd just sent them both a look, trying to ignore them at this point. She just had to listen to her gut and do what she could. "No, not take it slow. We gotta go after 'em." Sensei Lawrence yelled after, Syd just spinning her bow as she faced her competition.
She yelled out as she attacked, swinging the bow staff at the girl across from her who quickly blocked, trying to throw her own attack back Syds way.
"Slow down! Keep it steady!" Mr. LaRusso yelled out, Syd just swinging at the girl again as she tried to score. This was first to a point would win, and Syd was not about to just hand the victory over to the other team.
"Kick her ass, Syd!" Devon shouted, Syd smirking lightly as she once again attacked, spinning the bow staff around and swinging toward the other girl.
It was obvious her competitor was getting mad, suddenly lunging Syds way and throwing her bow around to try and land any type of attack. Syd just blocked, slamming her bow into her competitors and causing the other girl to spin around from the impact.
She dodged as the other girl swung her way, jumping back before throwing attack after attack at the other girl. "That's it, McKinley! Show 'em who's boss!" Sensei Lawrence yelled. "Slow down, Syd. Save your energy." Mr. LaRusso cut off, only distracting Syd as she jumped back again to avoid being hit in the side.
