"Up next, our second boys' semifinal, Axel Kovačević of Iron Dragons versus Robby Keene of Miyagi-Do." The announcer announced.
"You've got this, Robby." Syd smiled, nodding to the boy when he looked her way. He nodded back, thankful as he was given quick good lucks by the rest of the team.
Syd moved her eyes up to find them already connected with Axel's, the boy then looking at Sam for a moment. Syd frowned, clearly seeing just how embarrassed he still was after what had happened at the beach with Sam.
She felt bad, but she also knew that Sam didn't owe him anything. Just because he'd tried something and it didn't work didn't give him the right to make it Sam and Miguel's problem. She thought he was a nice guy, but the amount of ostracization he experienced from his own sensei when it came to other people his age definitely seemed to get in his way.
It was really sad, but Syd just hoped he could get away from his sensei and Silver soon.
Syd turned toward her team as Robby did the same, everyone circling up as Robby stared toward the team's three senseis. "Alright, this is everything you've been working for. You earned it." Sensei Lawrence spoke, smiling his son's way.
"Breathe, focus, stay centered. Give him everything you got." Mr. LaRusso added, proud of his student. "And then you give him more." Sensei Toguchi finished, Robby smiling. Sensei Toguchi then yelled something in Japanese, everyone excitedly pumping Robby up right after.
Syd turned back around as Robby bowed to his senseis, Eli grabbing the girls hand in his once he'd turned around too. Syd sent him a small smile, the smile only widening as the boy pulled her into a side hug as they watched Robby head onto the mat.
The two pulled away to watch as Axel moved onto the mat, Robby and Axel both bowing to the ref before turning toward each other and doing the same. "Ready! Fight!" The ref called out, Robby running forward and sending kicks Axels way as the other boy just stepped back.
Robby swung at him, trying to hit him from either side before Axel just moved out of the way, getting back into his own fighting stance.
Syd watched as they both kicked the same leg, Robby going for a point while Axel went for a block, his knee hitting Robby's leg. Robby swung his leg around to try and hit Axel, only for the other boy to spin below the kick in a squat.
Syd was honestly excited to see such a good matchup, watching both extremely talented boys compete. Even though Axel had been dominating the competition, Robby was one hell of a fighter and she loved seeing pairings like that.
Robby jumped up and spun around himself, kicking toward Axel again. He then threw a kick toward Axels side, only getting his leg thrown off by Axel's arm. The two circled each other for a moment, Robby jumping up and kicking toward Axel again, first to his side which Axel blocked with his knee and then to his upper chest, something Axel blocked with his elbow.
