"Because both Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai are one and one, whoever wins this match advances. And whoever loses is eliminated." The announcer spoke as the team moved across the mat from Cobra Kai. Syd was ready, feeling like everything was finally setting into place for the team.
This time would be the last time that Cobra Kai got in the way. She was sure that after this fight, they'd be gone and dead for good.
And then she could have her best friend back.
Syd smiled lightly as Eli grabbed her hand from beside her, hiding the acting behind their backs as the group all faced Cobra Kai, waiting to begin the fight. She quickly squeezed his hand back lightly, turning her head toward the boy and seeing him already looking right back at her.
She just smiled lightly, facing forward again as she kept her hand connected to his. Syd moved her eyes toward Tory, frowning lightly as she watched Tory look right back at her, a sadness in her eyes.
All Syd wanted to do was help the blonde get away from Kreese the way she'd finally let herself. But Tory had to do it for herself, and from the look in her eyes there was a lot more going on that Syd wouldn't be able to guess.
"Hey, guys. Circle up." Mr. LaRusso finally spoke, obviously being told by someone that the fight would start soon. Syd kept her hand connected to Eli's as the team all moved into a circle, waiting to hear the last bit of wisdom from their Senseis.
This truly was the final make or break moment before the captains competition, and they'd either take it all right here or go home losers.
"All right. Remember, trust, tag, teamwork." Mr. LaRusso reminded. Syd felt better about their chances this time, feeling a true team unity for the very first time all competition. "You got this. Who's in first?" Sensei Lawrence wondered.
Syd smiled lightly as all eyes moved to Robby, Miguel and Kenny each giving the boy a small nod. Robby's eyes instantly moved to Syd, checking with the girl to see what she thought. She just sent him her own nod, ready to watch the boy start them strong. This was his moment to show everyone what he was made of, all he needed to do was take it.
Robby sent her a small nod back, facing his father and the rest of the team's Senseis before nodding to them, cementing the choice. "All right. Let's see you all kick ass." Sensei Toguchi added, sending all the teens a comforting smile.
Syd felt her own smile fall on her face, looking around. "We've got this, guys. One last time." She was met with smiles from her teammates, everyone taking the words to heart. "Let's finish this." Miguel smirked, the team separating before heading back toward Cobra Kai, setting up for the fight.
Syd moved between Sam and Eli, finally letting Eli's hand go as she watched Kwon move to stand across from Robby. Well, before Tory shoved the boy out of the way and went into the center herself.
