-I'm ready. What do you think? – You ask leaving the room and showing up at the living room where Jeno is patiently waiting on the sofa on his cellphone. His eyes look up and his gaze scans you head to toe minutely just to let out a heavy sigh as he runs his hand by his face.
-You really need to go looking like that, right? – He mumbles behind his hands, and you arch an eyebrow confused.
-What do you mean? Is it bad? – You check your clothes again as Jeno's eyes come back to you, thinking twice.
-No... it's not bad. You're beautiful. It's just... argh. – He groans, leaving you even more confused. – You're gonna draw too much attention again. The guys will all be drooling over you, throwing the glances, flirting around. Can't you simply wear hoodie and jeans instead of the dress? – He says, and you laugh out loud.
-What are you talking about? You're overreacting again. I can't wear a hoodie for a party. Also, I'm feeling good today, so I had energy to get dressed up tonight. Anyways, let's go or we will get late. – You say, taking your purse as Jeno rolls his eyes, tingling the car keys on his fingers.
Jeno was always like that with you. Like a overprotective older brother, even if you weren't related. In reality, he is your best friend for some years now. You are always together, and tonight a common friend of yours is throwing a party, so you decided to go together, but just like every other party, you knew how it was going to be. Jeno hates when a guy hits on you, making sure to protect you of the "jerks" who could annoy you (as he always says). You don't mind it, on the contrary, you love his company, but lately you started to look at his actions with a different point of view.
You two get to the party, and you quickly greet your friends. Jeno, as well, greets his friends letting you have some space, however, always with an eye on you. It didn't take too long for the other guys to start to talk to you, and you could see his change of behavior. He never left your side, putting himself between you and the others. His hand would naturally snake around your waist, pulling you away from them.
Normally nothing gets out of usual even if you're out going, but tonight it seems that a guy had taken your attention. Jeno found it weird how you were talking to him for so long and laughing to the things he says, making something inside him burn in anger. He noticed how the guy was eyeing you, and the moment he dared to touch your arm was the last straw to Jeno.
-I'm telling you! That's exactly what happened. - The guy says, stealing another laugh from you while Jeno walked closer.
-So...? What are you guys talking about? - Jeno says, ''discreetly'' sneaking in between you two, making the guy take a step aside which didn't pass unnoticed by you.
-Uhm... Nothing in specific. Jay was telling me about a trip with his friends. - You say, and Jeno nods, narrowing his eyes towards ''Jay''.
-I see. So, do you wanna... grab a drink or something? We can... talk. I have a lot of funny stories too. - Jeno says, and you could see the nervousness in his eyes, maybe because he is... jealous?
-I'm talking to Jay now. We can grab a drink later. Wait for me and I meet you soon, alright? - You say, and his lips instantly drop in a pout. He nods, rolling his eyes, walking away.
After some minutes, you look for Jeno again, finding him sitting alone in a table on his cellphone with a sullen face. His arm rests on the sofa backrest as a half full glass of beer looks untouched in front of him. You come closer, sitting beside him, waking him up of his bored state. He drops the cellphone on the table sighing.
-Hi, sir. I was looking for you. Why are you sitting here all alone? - You ask, leaning back, feeling his arm touching your back.
-Just resting a bit. Weren't you talking to ''Jay''? The convo was so good that I thought it would take all night long. - He says in a sassy tone, making you chuckle.
-No. We just talked a bit more, but then I wanted to look for you. We came to the party together, didn't we? Why does it sound like you don't like Jay? - You ask, and Jeno smirks ironically.
-Yeah, I don't like him already. I could see how he was all over you. I could read his eyes, you know. I know what he was thinking. He is a jerk. Total jerk. - He says looking away, making you laugh.
-A jerk? You don't even know him. - You say in a playful tone, seeing him rolling his eyes again. - And what's the problem if he was flirting with me? He was being respectful. Isn't that how people start dating? - You say, and he stutters, not knowing what to say.
-That's- ... I mean- ... I can already say he is not good for you. Just watching his glances and how he was touching your arm all the time. He even touched your shoulder! - He says, crossing his arms, as if touching your shoulder was the worst crime someone could commit.
-So what? Don't you do that all the time too? You touch my waist too. - You say, and his eyes turn fast towards you.
-I'm different. I can do these things. They can't. I don't have those intentions they have. - He says looking in your eyes. Your eyes straighten in suspicious and you slide on the sofa, sitting closer to him.
-Are you sure you don't? If I kiss you right now, won't you do the same? - Your sudden question made his eyes slightly widen as he gulps in nervousness, getting speechless.
-Don't start something you won't finish. - Jeno says, trying to keep his cool, even if his heart was slamming against his chest. You chuckle in a smirk, seeing his body language changing. Clearly your little joke shook him.
-Are you afraid I prove you wrong? - He looks back at you as he clenches his jaw, breathing getting heavy.
He watches you slowly getting closer. His eyes drop to your lips as his breathing gets heavy. Your lips touch his, and he could feel his heart almost flying out of his chest, and just like you thought, he kissed you back. Your hand touched his cheek, deepening the kiss and you saw yourself getting chills on your spine when his hand rested on your waist.
So far you hadn't thought about kissing Jeno as he always acted like he was ''taking care'' of you, but only now you found out that all of that behavior was actually something else. He didn't back away. He is so into it in a way you didn't expect, but that also you don't dislike.
His hand caresses your waist, slightly and hesitantly pulling you closer, not wanting you to stop, and only when you pulled away you noticed how much that kiss meant for him. His gaze looked drunk, even if he had had just a sip of beer. His eyes ran by your face as if he was enchanted. It was almost strange for you to see such expression on his face. You had never seen it before.
-See? You kissed me back. - You joke, and suddenly his expression dropped in disappointment. He takes his hand away from your waist, leaving you confused. It's like you had hurt him somehow, which makes you unconsciously worried.
-Is that why you did it? To prove your point? - He asks, and you freeze. What's happening to him today? He is acting different, in a way that is making your heart beat faster. You take your hand to his cheek again, turning his face to look at you again.
-Is there something you want to tell me? - You ask looking at his eyes, and he stares at you for some seconds. His cheeks are a bit red, and also his ears. He looks so... sincere and open. To you. And only to you.
-I... I hate when another guy flirts with you. It makes me burn in jealousy. Just the thought of it. I'm just... completely in love with you. I thought you could tell. Since when we first met... I'm crazy for you. - With just a few words Jeno made your heart race inside your chest. You weren't expecting to hear something like that from him. Jeno, your best friend who always talked bad of all the guys who approached you and who never made you look at him this way. Until now.
-Why did you never tell me? - You ask, and he grins weakly shrugging.
-You never seemed to feel something for me like that. - He says, reaching out his hand and hiding a strand of hair behind your ear.
-If you had told me sooner, maybe I wouldn't let other guys flirt with me. - You joke, getting your face close to him again. A smile grows on his lips as his eyes again run by your face.
-What about me? Can I flirt with you then? - He jokes in an eye-smile, and you chuckle biting your lip.
-Why don't you try? - You say, and he smirks, getting closer to your face and brushing his lips on your cheek, tracing little pecks until kissing your lips again.
