You knew something was since Jaemin asked you to meet at the café. Firstly, he sent you a very suspicious message. "Can you meet me at the café at 5 tomorrow? I need to ask you something." That alone was strange enough, but now he is also acting weird. Quiet and at the same time restless. Somehow, he seemed nervous.
-So? What's it that you wanted to talk about? – You ask him, breaking the ice after long minutes. Jaemin blinked twice, putting the little cup of coffee on the plate, and sighing deeply.
-Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about it. – "Liar". You thought while staring at Jaemin.
He scratched his nape, connecting it with a long and exaggerated body stretching. You waited patiently, noticing how his gaze would run away from yours in less than a second. His face starts to get increasingly red. If you weren't friends for so long, you would confess to you.
-It's just that... Well... You remember I told you about my sister's wedding, right? - Jaemin says, with his eyes looking at the cafe's window.
-Right. - You answer.
-The thing is... - He clears his throat. - My sister and my mom are saying that I'm the only groomsman who doesn't have a partner, and now they want to pair me up with Lydia - His eyes shut in disgust just by saying her name.
-Lydia? That girl who was obsessed with you during high school? Oh no. Is she still into you? - You ask, holding a laugh, seeing the pain in his face.
-I'm not sure, but I don't want to find out. - He takes a deep breath. - I thought that maybe I could invite someone myself and tell them that... I'm not single... - He glances at you.
-Wait. Do you want me to be your pair and pretend I'm your girlfriend? - You ask, and he immediately looks at you.
-We would just greet my relatives and stay there until the wedding is over. No need to do anything weird. - He says shaking his hand in the air as if he was being accused of something.
And now, here you are, looking at yourself in the mirror, checking your dress and your makeup. You haven't had that much time to look for a dress, but this one wasn't that bad, and for some reason, Jaemin asked you to choose a pink one. Your cellphone rings, indicating a message from Jaemin who arrived to pick you up.
You leave the house, and immediately spot Jaemin leaned on his car in a tuxedo. His hair is up, showing his forehead while the black bottom-up shirt drew perfectly his torso. It was not new that Jaemin was handsome, or just like he says, attractive, but this time he had overcome your expectations, making you wonder why he is single this whole time.
His pink butterfly tie explains the reason he asked you the color of your dress. He takes his hands off his pockets, standing straight as his eyes check you out. A scoff leaves his mouth together with that classic smirk of his.
-Hi. You said you did not have enough time to get ready, but I would be surprised if you looked more beautiful than you are right now. - He says, and you grin. Jaemin had the most creative ways to compliment someone (or you specifically). Having him as your friend had to give you a type of way of not getting so flustered by them, even if it wasn't easy to this day.
-You also look very good yourself. - You say, seeing him opening the car door, knowing very well he had a huge smile on his face. He loved to be complimented too, even if you didn't do it too often to not boost his ego even more (if possible).
Only when you saw the other people dressed in formal clothes after passing through the entrance that it clicked to you that you were really there to pretend to be his girlfriend.
-Let's enjoy the party. – Jaemin says as you feel his hand intertwining with yours.
At first you were nervous. You didn't know if his relatives would ask too many questions about your "relationship", but in the end they were very respectful. Apparently, they were very surprised that Jaemin has a girlfriend. A "beautiful and polite" girlfriend, in their words. Their only questions were, actually, about yourself, and some of them Jaemin would answer in laughs before you could even speak.
