As a medicine student, you were looking forward for the internship experience. After some years studying inside a classroom, going to a hospital finally feels like getting a sip of what you have chosen for life. Your sweating hands and fast heartbeats don't hide the nervousness, after all, it's a great responsibility and high expectation, even if you're there to learn.
Getting to the building, you take a deep breath. Everything looks like a new thing, which is funny since, of course, you have been to hospitals before in your life, but it's different now. You're there to serve, not be served. Looking around, you immediately spot your classmates. After changing your clothes to the hospital ones (which is also something exciting), you wait in expectation for someone to explain something to you while seeing nurses, doctors and patients passing by. Some minutes later, you finally hear someone calling your name.
-Y/n? – The professor asks, and you stand up. – You will stay with Doctor Na Jaemin this week. He will teach you the basic things you need for your year. Feel free to follow him during his day and to ask questions.
While the professor was still talking, a tall handsome lad dressed in a white coat appears, stopping right next him. Your eyes slightly widen, impressed by knowing that your supervisor was someone like him.
-Hi. I'm Jaemin. – He reaches out his hand with a warm smile on his face.
-I'm Y/n. Nice to meet you. – You say, trying not to sound nervous, even if your heart was beating fast.
-Pleasure is all mine. Let's go? – He says, and you nod, following him.
And just like his warm smile, as the days passed by, you noticed how his heart was also kind. His way of talking is tender, even if his voice is deep. Whenever you asked him something, he would immediately stop to listen to you with attention, switching his gaze from yours to your lips, reading the words you were saying. His white coat seemed to fly through the corridors, making him look like an angel. And he was handsome. Very handsome. Yeah, you've got a crush. A hard crush on your resident supervisor.
However, his beauty was not only for your eyes. It seems like your classmate also noticed him very well, since she suddenly started to follow you two and ask him questions for two days now.
-So, by this graphic and the numbers in the exam, what do you think it's the problem? – Jaemin asks, and you frown thinking.
-Uhm... maybe the cardiac axis is out of limit? – You say, and Jaemin straightens his eyes.
-Uhm... not that. Take a look at it again. We talked about it yesterday. – He says in a warm tone.
-His QRS is too high. It's atrial fibrillation. – Sara, your classmate says, and Jaemin smiles.
-Yes. You got it. Very good, Sara. – Jaemin says, and the girl giggles, holding onto his arm, making you roll your eyes in annoyance.
And just like that, it got even worse. Even when visiting the patients, Sara was there all the time, asking Jaemin many questions and smiling like a clown when he would praise her. Jaemin's kind personality was what called your attention, now it is making you burn in jealousy. It feels stupid at the same time. He is doing his work and being nice, but you're not gonna lie and say you didn't want this side of him just for you.
In the next day, a new case appears on the hospital, and again, Sara is very excited for it, of course. Having a question in mind, you think of asking it to Jaemin, but he is already talking to Sara. "Alright. He likes her more. I don't care."
-Lewis, is this allergy correlated with her syndrome? – You ask Sara's resident in the same room. Since she is with Jaemin now, her supervisor is very "free".
