Running the hands by the fabric of the long blazer, he fixes his collar and tilts his head in a very concentrated expression. The mirror never lies. He is ready for what's about to come. One of the most important nights of his life. The Met Gala event. He turns around smiling at the staff. He was nervous, but he didn't want to show that, failing miserably and just laughing it off as he usually does.
He gets in the car and takes a deep breath. Suffocated screams pass through the black window as the car starts to slow down. A red carpet paints the scenario while many other famous people parade by it. Johnny nods to his manager signalizing he is ready to go. He gets out of the car and the many screams intensify. They are there for him and that draws the attention of other people too.
The hardest part was done. He passed by the carpet and took some pictures, but the night was just starting. Now it's the time for ''making yourself social and approachable''. That's how his manager called. The party time. His stylist, all the time by his side, waves to a group of people as a wide grin grows on his face. Johnny goes over their direction following the man.
-Johnny, I want to introduce you my friends. - He says and Johnny looks at them bowing his head respectfully. They all start to say their names, which he would forget seconds after, but one of them would stay engraved in his mind. Her name.
Their eyes met and Johnny felt a different gaze coming from her. An intense gaze. Deep. She reached out her hand for him to shook, but he quickly grabbed it and brought it close to his lips, kissing it. His eyes didn't leave hers for a second just to see if she would look away, but she also didn't. Her hand brushed against his as she pulled it back with a smile.
The conversation started. A not so interesting one to be honest. Work is everything they knew to talk, but being professional as he is, Johnny kept it going. Meanwhile, another tentative of chat was happening between Johnny and her. A not normal one though. This type of conversation needs no words. Just instinct. He feels her green eyes wandering by him. The tip of her nails clicks on the glass in her hands and Johnny could notice a type of... flutter on her. He glanced at her one more time and she quickly deviated from him. Her jaw clenched as she looked down and his lips imperceptibly went up in a smirk. Was it his head building something fake or he could read her so easily like an open book?
The group decides to sit in a table. Some presentations are happening and, like all fancy party, the guests must watch every single of them. They started to organize themselves on the seats and Johnny quickly chooses the empty seat next to her. The lights go off and someone starts to sing. For a minute Johnny got distracted by it and let his leg rest and accidentally touch the person next to him. He looks down seeing her crossed leg touching slight him and wonders why she is not moving it away. The girl's eyes focus firmly on the stage not hiding how it's impossible she is not feeling the touch.
-Miss, your drink. - The waiter stops beside Johnny startling both of you at the same time.
-Oh. Thank you. - She says. The waiter takes the drink from the tray and Johnny takes it, carefully handing it to her. Her hands get in contact with his and it seems like a sparkle burns his skin. Her eyes land on his for a second and she takes the glass, brushing it again against him.
She smiles thanking him and looks away. Her tongue licks her lips and the glass kiss them as she takes it in one go, making Johnny chuckle. Her right feet swing nervously and her left leg remains calm, still in contact with him. Somehow, she can't manage how to start a proper talk with him, and it is killing her inside.
-Excuse me, sirs. I'm gonna go to the restroom and I'll be back. - She says in a low tone and the others nod. Johnny leans his back on the chair as a heavy sigh leaves his mouth.
The cold water falls on her hands as she tries to calm herself down. Her whole body seems to be on fire. Not drying them, she fans herself and checks how she is on the mirror. Leaving the bathroom, she decides to check the buffet. Her eyes run by the many expensive dishes and desserts there thinking which one she should take, but a tall presence draws her attention. Her breathing freezes as Johnny stops beside her also ''checking'' the buffet. She gulps looking away again. Her hands hold firmly on each other, but she still tries to look calm. With a serious expression, Johnny glances at her and takes a drink on the table. He rolls the glass watching the wine drain inside it.
-My house or yours? - He boldly says taking a sip of his drink and looking at the stage. The girl widens her eyes looking at him fast. Staring at him for a second, she looks away and plays with the table's towel.
-Yours. - She says feeling her chest be punched by her heart and Johnny just can't contain a smirk from coming to his face.
-Meet me at the parking lot. I'm gonna call a cab. - He says putting the glass on the table after finishing it.
-I'm gonna grab my purse.
