Broken pieces of me
fractured pieces of you
shards of a vast mosaic
shattered pieces of one big puzzle
straining to interlock
trying in vain to fit together
askew and unresolved
I could not assemble
the scattered fragments of myself
so I gathered borrowed slivers
from passing souls
who briefly entered my vicinity
playing roles
that ended in tragedy
All I managed to create
was a sprawling, tangled portrait
a chaotic canvas of ill-fitting parts
clinging parasitically to each other
forming a messy picture
smeared across an indecipherable image
a melancholy of tortured faces
