You're a fixer
gravitating toward broken people
latching onto their cracked foundations
as if your love were glue
you build toxic connections
with those who couldn't care less about you
believing that if you just try hard enough
you can make them whole
You pour yourself
into their wounds
try to cleanse the darkness
from within them
patching their scars
with pieces of your own heart
but no matter how much you give
it's never enough
You don't fix them
you only end up affixing yourself
to their damage
until the weight of their misery
bends your spine until it breaks
their poison seeps into your veins
and their unwavering indifference
carves hollow spaces
where your self-worth used to be
Now you're the broken one
whose in needs of repairs
messily patched together
with empty apologies
held upright by exhaustion
because you couldn't fix them
and now you're the one
in need of fixing
