All stories come to an end
some fade softly into the night
like the closing lines of a lullaby
a whisper carried off by the wind
Some stumble from the start
tripping over missteps and imperfections
others end in tragedy
unfinished sentences cut short
pages torn out mid-chapter
Most are tattered
left to gather dust
in the margins of memory
but each one
no matter how small or insignificant
changes at least one life
Each breath we take
each word we speak
etches a line
into the fabric of the world
sometimes gently
sometimes deep
We leave behind echoes
even when we don't mean to
tiny ripples
in the ocean of time
stretching far beyond our reach
touching shores we'll never see
For better or worse
we're all stories
being written and rewritten
until the very last word
immortalizes us beyond death
in someone else's heart
