Corrupted education
a casualty of the machine
indoctrinated into elegant falsehoods
about who I am
what my purpose should be
what destiny had prewritten for me
how I was meant to contort myself
into spaces that never wanted me
They compelled forced collaboration
with wolves in borrowed uniforms
souls who would have sooner
cast me from a bridge
than claim me as one of their own
The only curriculum they mastered
was a steady diet of self-erasure
teaching me to wear a fake smile
to despise my reflection
so I might resemble the others
while never once
being cherished
for the person I was
