GENERATIONAL TRAUMA

The family lineage

is a tomb

containing all the sins and regrets

from before you were even born

every uncomfortable silence

still lingers

every locked door

still remembers

the unhappy truths

hiding behind them

every shadow

still whispers

with undying malice

You remember

the insults hurled

the fists thrown in rage

the guilt that pollutes the air

the resentment and self-hatred

violent and grotesque thoughts

that made you feel less human

the invisible scars

left on your heart

All the horrors

that came before

are passed on

to you

and you must bear the burden

of carrying them

for the rest of your life

You can't rinse out the blood

that's tattooed in your veins

or rewrite the code of your DNA

you can't bury the ghosts

or hide from the demons

that still manifest

through your name

You can only choose

how to reshape it

into your own image

to pass it on

or end the cycle

Will you hand it down in chains

or sharpen it into blades?

will you kiss with your knuckles

or embrace to heal the wounds?

will you scream violence

or serenade the past to sleep?

You can

break the shackles

or polish them clean

stretch the chain

or melt the machine

heal the the scars

or open them wider

you are not the origin

but you are the architect

of what comes next

It's not about forgetting the past

it's about refusing to become its echo

growing beyond your pain

so you don't become like the ones

that set the hurt into motion
