                                                  Hurt too many times 
I have to retreat 
back to my shadowy den 
lick my wounds 
until their scabbed over 

Numbness takes control once more 
condemning everything in sight 
I swear I'll never let myself care again 
but I'll just make another appointment 
to be disappointed 
at a later date 

I can only take being alone for so long 
until I start to hunger for more tough love 
so don't worry 
I'll be back to my old self soon enough 
just expect a slow recovery this time
