HORROR

Horror is my favorite genre 

because it didn't teach me to be afraid 

it taught me that I'm not a monster 

and that there wasn't anything 

truly wrong with me

It showed me that we all carry things 

we hate and fear about ourselves 

scars no one else can see 

that shadows exist in everyone 

no matter how bright their smiles 

Horror taught me 

that hope and redemption

aren't found in perfect people 

but in broken ones 

who have the guts 

to claw their way through the dark 

That being pushed beyond your limits

can give you the strength

to survive your bleakest moments 

and others who are lost 

when the world has abandoned them 

It taught me that demons are real 

but they don't always have leathery wings or bloodsucking fangs 

sometimes they wear your face 

and lurk in the darkest corners of your mind 

or even pretend to be your friends 

Horror showed me 

that the world is a scary place 

and that we're all fighting our own battles 

but I took comfort in knowing 

that none of us have to face them alone
