I'm still afraid

of all the things

everyone else

takes for granted

and makes look so easy

I like to think

that I've been refined

by constant resilience

against impossible odds

like a diamond under pressure

So I promised myself

that I wouldn't allow

fear or sadness

to dictate my entire life

any longer
