Unrequited love
is a hard drug
that can get you dangerously addicted
to the highs of fantasy
sparking euphoric hallucinations
delightful delusions
that will never come true
It's tough to quit
a self-destructive substance
brewed from your own desperation
a desire to be smothered in affection
unconditionally, inside and out
when you can't find a way to love yourself
and withdraw can make you overdose
