Kevin left his brother to it knowing that he would be able to tell the young mother everything that will happen with her daughter when she goes through the traumatic experience. Demi was still a little emotional that her daughter won't make it through the operation. She was only four, small and venerable. She shouldn't have to go through such an experience, she should be outside playing with other children, running in the park.

"The heart will be removed from the donor and be given to Nevaeh within hours of being removed. A heart bypass will keep her blood circulating throughout the procedure. Nevaeh's chest will be cut open her failed heart taken out and the new one will be connected to the main arteries." Joe explained keeping his eyes on Demi the whole time.

"H-How long will it take?" Demi questioned.

"On average four to six hours." Joe answered Demi having to take in a huge breath, she didn't like the idea of her daughter being in surgery for that long.

"What are the risks?" Demi needed to know all these details to make sure she was fully prepared for what her daughter was going to go through.

"The heart given to her might not pump properly or typically her body will reject the heart all together. I know it sounds tough but it's either she goes through this or she's in pain for the rest of her life." Joe stated Demi sighing nodding her head.

"I-I know, I just want to be prepared for what she's going through." Demi admitted stroking Nevaeh's hair as she slept. Joe smiled seeing how much she cared.

"As for recovery, it will take a couple of months and she'll be on medication which she will be more likely to get an infection but she should make a full recovery." Demi cracked a small smile thinking about her daughter not being in any pain after the operation. If she even made it through. She had all faith in the doctors though.

Joe spent some time with some other patients but soon sat back down with Demi explaining to the little girl what would be happening in a more kid friendly way. She seemed a little scared but she was reassured by Joe that she wouldn't be in any pain. She was still shy around Joe having a little four year old crush on him.

"When will the operation be?" Demi questioned.

"The doctors are scheduling it now but it will be as soon as possible, before then we would like to keep her here to make sure that we can prepare her for the surgery. You'll be spoiled here Nevaeh don't worry." Nevaeh grinned burying herself into her mother who kissed her hair gently. Joe loved their relationship and Nevaeh was a beautiful girl. Just like how he found her mother. Nevaeh being shy was even cuter.

"Why are you being all shy little girl?" Demi cooed.

"Nevaeh do you want to come for a walk so mommy can get some rest?" Joe suggested a smile on his face as she buried herself into Demi a little more.

"I think that is a good idea, mommy can go home and get a shower." Demi stated lifting Nevaeh up onto her lap so she couldn't hide anymore.

"Okay." She mumbled letting her mother set her down on the ground. Joe stood up holding his hand out for her. Nevaeh grabbed it.

"Say bye to mommy." Joe encouraged.

"Bye mommy!" Demi smiled waving back to her as she left with Joe. She couldn't help but smile seeing her daughter happy, Joe was an amazing man and she knew although he wasn't a father yet one day he would make a great father. Demi headed home which gave her more time to think. Her little girl was going for a life threatening operation.
