Twenty Seven

Joe and Demi soon made it to a restaurant, it wasn't an expensive one but it wasn't one that they would just be ordering burger and fries. Joe decided to take Demi to an Italian restaurant hoping that she liked that kind of food. They had sat down and ordered a bottle of wine for them to sip on during the night and ordered their meal before they settled down properly.

"I know you said not to talk about work but how is Zack doing and his brother?" Demi inquired, she was a mother, she couldn't deny she was worried about these boys and she didn't even know them or know about their situation.

"Zack is doing a little better now he knows Mason is with the doctors, there's a social worker coming tomorrow for them both. They'll be separated." Joe explained but Demi could see the look on his face, not wanting them to be separated.

"Can't they find a home together?" Demi inquired taking a sip from her wine glass.

"Zack is old enough to go to a children's home but Mason isn't, he'll need to go to a foster home straight away." Joe explained.

"Why don't you take them? I know you already have a connection with Zack I'm sure you could grow one with Mason too." Demi suggested Joe sighing shaking his head gently taking a sip from his own drink before speaking again.

"I work no end of hours a week Demi, I can't look after two boys, who will look after them while I'm at work? Trust me I thought about it but I don't see ow it will be any good for either of us." Joe admitted thanking the waiter as he placed their meals in front of them both, they begun eating but continued speaking.

"I think if you offered your boss would give you time off and I could also help if you wanted to go in for a couple of hours." Demi suggested again.

"That's not going to help me get qualified, I'll talk to Charles about it but I don't know if it will be any good for any of us." Joe stated.

"All you can do is ask." Demi approved.

"Now we must talk about something else." Joe urged Demi laughing slightly as she continued to eat but whatever they talked about she enjoyed his company. It had been a while since she got any time to enjoy someone's company.

"You can come in if you want?" Demi inquired Joe nodding his head gently both of them climbing out the car Joe locking it behind him. "Colton said he was taking Neveah to his place so she could stay asleep when we came home." Joe took the bottle of wine which had a couple of glasses left for Joe who didn't want to drink too much with driving so Demi could open the door the two of them entering as she did.

"How long did you say you've been friends with Colton?" Joe inquired.

"Since college, I never really had friends at school." Demi answered leading the way into the living room where they both took a seat on the couch.

"Me neither, I was a nerd." Joe shrugged his shoulders.

"You must have been a cute nerd." Demi grinned making him laugh.

"I had a girlfriend for over a year between junior and senior year but we broke up when we graduated and went to different collages.

"Do you think if you went to the same school you'd still be together?" Joe shrugged his shoulders gently making her giggle.

"Maybe but I don't care cause I have you now." Demi rolled her eyes making him laugh too pecking her lips gently snaking his arm around her Demi smiling as she laid her head on his shoulder. She had a good night with him and was looking forward to spending some time with him again.
