Thirty Nine

It had been nearly two months since Joe started looking after Zack and Mason and things were getting better every day. Joe had gotten used to being in the parent role and still had help from Demi who often came over with Nevaeh, she had become sort of friends with Zack but Zack was still getting used to his surroundings. He was yet to speak in full sentences but had said a couple of words here and there but he had warmed up to Joe's family, the people who came over often but still unsure about strangers. They were happy with his progress.

"Hey come in!" Joe greeted pecking Demi's lips then Nevaeh's head taking her as she reached out for him. Demi stepped in shutting the door behind her greeting Zack as he waved at her. Joe sat Nevaeh down next to Zack so they could both watch TV. "Can we talk?" Joe turned to Demi who nodded her head gently following him into the kitchen.

"What's up?" Demi inquired watching as he sat up on one of the counters placing herself in front of him leaning up pecking his lips gently.

"My mom offered to take the kids for the night so we could have some time to ourselves, we haven't had a second date yet." Joe stated taking hold of her hands.

"That sounds amazing but is she sure she can look after three kids?" Demi inquired.

"Demi she had three boys under the age of five at one point, I'm sure she can manage them for one night." Joe laughed.

"Alright smartass I'll be up for that." Demi rolled her eyes making him laugh again as he got down from the counter wrapping his arms around his middle Demi's arms snaking around his neck a small smile on her face.

"You think I'm adorable really." Joe grinned.

"Unfortunately." Demi grinned back Joe leaning down kissing her gently Demi kissing him back. It was deepened slightly before Demi pulled away from him.

"You wouldn't want it to go further right now." Demi breathed Joe chuckling pecking her lips again.

"We have tonight for that." Joe winked laughing again as Demi pushed him away slightly but he wrapped his arms around her from the back kissing her cheek gently as Demi smiled feeling his tight arms around her.

"It's just a good job your cute." Demi cooed as he pulled away leaning up pinching his cheeks Joe rolling his eyes this time.

"I promise you I'll bite your finger." Joe mumbled Demi kissing him gently before pulling away from him taking hold of his hand dragging him out into the living room.

"What time should we go out?" Demi inquired sitting down next to Nevaeh Joe taking a seat in the arm chair.

"Not too late, I'll need to pick the boys up early the next day cause I'm seeing about sending Zack to kindergarten." Joe spoke in a hushed tone not wanting Zack to hear and freak out.

"I think it will be good for him." Demi answered taking his hand from across the chair Joe being the one tangle their fingers together.

"I'm just not sure whether he'll cope so I'm having a meeting with the principle," Joe answered looking over at Zack as he looked at him. "Lunch?" Zack nodded his head Joe standing up again. "Nevaeh do you want a sandwich."

"Yes please." She answered Demi smiling.

"I'll come help," Joe and Demi wondered back into the kitchen Joe taking the bread from the bread bin as Demi took the butter from the fridge. "I think you need to send him to kindergarten or at least try, it might ease him into school a little bit.

"Yeah I just don't want him to hate me over it when we're just getting somewhere." Joe admitted but Demi shook her head.

"He shouldn't, you've been growing closer together. He'll be fine." Demi approved.
