"No you can't take him away from me!" Demi cried as the midwife attempted to take Kai out of her arms but Demi just held him closer against her chest. Joe was frozen with shock about what had just happened, how he was fine just an hour ago and now no longer with them.

"Miss I know this is a hard time but you need to hand him over." She tried to convince but Demi shook her head tears falling quickly down her cheeks.

"He's my baby boy," Demi choked kissing his head over and over again. "H-He can't be gone!" Joe rubbed her back gently.

"L-Let us just say goodbye to him." Joe managed to get out seeing her nod her head wondering away but didn't go too far away in case something were to happen.

"He can't be gone Joe; he was fine when he left us earlier!" Demi cried. They were alone in the room besides the midwife having moved with him when he was crying so much that he was disturbing the other babies.

"I know Demi but somehow this has happened, it's not fair but we need to say goodbye to him." Joe stated wiping away his tears. Demi hesitated but nodded her head holding the lifeless new-born in her arms so they could see his face his eyes shut all colour drained from his face.

"W-We barely got to know you but you've been the most amazing son we could have asked for, it's a shame we couldn't spend more time with you because we would have had so much fun." Demi mumbled but stayed strong for her son so she could say a proper goodbye to him.

"Have fun up their kiddo and don't go throwing any parties," Joe whispered but it was getting hard to say goodbye to his son who he had barely spent any time with. "You've been such a good boy during the short time you had here and we'll never forget you little guy." They both leaned down kissing his head gently before Demi hesitantly turned to the midwife.

"O-Okay you can take him now." Demi choked the midwife making her way back over.

"I'm sorry for your loss," She breathed taking the bundles of blankets from Demi. "Go to your room and get some rest, we'll come to you in the morning and explain what's going to happen next."

Joe and Demi said another goodbye to Kai before they left the room still in tears having a tight grip onto one another's hands as they wondered through the corridor again ignoring all the looks they were getting. They entered the room again Demi breaking down almost instantly when the door closed, Joe wrapped his arms tightly around her Dem loosely wrapping her arms back around him feeling his tears hit her head but it didn't bother her.

"I feel so empty!" Demi cried Joe shushing her gently but he knew it would be hard to calm her down when he was crying so heavily himself.

"I know." Joe breathed lifting her up laying her down on the bed laying down next to her. They were as close as they were when they were stood crying into one another.

"The kids are going to be devastated." Demi mumbled.

"We'll find a way to tell them." Joe promised kissing her hair gently.

"Are you sure you still want to be with me, I-I can't give you another baby Joe!" Joe shushed her again holding her tighter.

"I love you Demi so much and even though our son died tonight that doesn't change anything," Joe begun pulling away from her so they were face to face. "We still have two sons and daughter at home and although they aren't biologically mine I love them as much as I loved and still love Kai. I mean it when I say I love you." He pecked her lips gently.

"I love you too Joe." Demi mumbled snuggling into his chest Joe laying his head on hers as they both continued to cry. They both soon settled down falling asleep where they could be away from the pain of losing their son. He was only three days old, they only had a handful of pictures of him but they would never stop missing or loving him.
