A couple of days passed by and Demi had left the hospital. Without her son. Everyone was devastated about the news and they had found a way to tell the children that Kai would not be coming home with them but they didn't quite understand why yet. They knew it would come to them later on when they got older. They would never fail to let them know about their baby brother who didn't make it through the infection. Demi still believed it was her fault no matter how much other people including Joe told her it wasn't. It was nobody's fault, even the team of doctors did everything they could to assure he made it but it wasn't supposed to be.

"Mommy's home." Nevaeh mumbled Demi leaning down kissing her hair gently.

"Yeah I am, are you okay princess?" Demi questioned.

"Mommy should have a baby but she doesn't." Nevaeh mumbled.

"I know and it's a really hard time for us all but we'll slowly get over it, I promise." Demi was glad the children at least got to see their brother and meet him before he tragically died. She needed to be somewhat happy around the children which would be hard because she still felt extremely down about it and she knew Joe did as well. They had so much support from Joe's family though, Paul and Denise would be coming over regularly to see how they are doing and to give them a bit of a break. They could be looking after a baby boy and wasn't.

"Joey still upstairs upset." Nevaeh mumbled Demi taking hold of her hand leading her into the living room Denise had wondered to so Demi could have some alone time to talk to Nevaeh. Joe had spent a lot of time at home since it happened, they both knew they needed one another but also their own time as they fought to get over the difficult time.

"I know we're all upset so you have to be patient with us alright?" Nevaeh nodded her head taking her seat back Demi taking her own. She'd go see Joe soon but she wanted to make sure the children were okay before she did.

"Zack has hardly spoke since it happened." Denise whispered to her Demi sighing.

"I'm going to go see Joe then I'll see if he'll have a word with him." Demi breathed getting up again. She wondered upstairs peering into the bedroom she usually shared with him sighing when he wasn't there. She moved across to the next room that should have been Kai's room seeing him sat on the floor against the crib staring at the wall ahead from him. She entered taking a seat next to him leaning her head on his shoulder already feeling her eyes well up with tears when she saw the stuffed bear Kai should have sleeping next to him in his father's hands. It was comforting for him to hold even if Kai never had it with him, it was all a bit of a rush when he arrived.

"It shouldn't be this way." Joe mumbled not moving his eyes from the wall.

"I know." Demi breathed as they both started crying again.

Demi's eyes fluttered open squinting slightly at the harsh light a small groan escaping her lips. She looked to her side seeing her mother sat on the chair next to her bed holding her hand gently. She felt dizzy and light headed Diana letting her get used to what was going on but she couldn't be more relieved that her daughter was awake.

"W-Where am I?" Demi mumbled not having much strength.

"You're in hospital sweetie, you were in a bad car crash and have been in a coma for nearly a year." Dianna breathed Demi's eyes widening sitting up quickly.

"Where's Joe, where's Zack and Mason?" Demi demanded to know. "I need to see Kai's grave." Dianna shushed her daughter helping her slowly lay back down.

"The only Joe I know is your doctor, Demi are you okay?" Dianna stated but Demi didn't speak because the door opened revealing him.

"Oh your awake, I'm your doctor, Joe Jonas. How are you feeling?" He questioned as he made his way to the side of her bed Demi shaking her head quickly tears threatening to fall.
