Demi had her blood test done before she was ordered to get some rest but she had no problem knowing when she woke up she could see her son for the first time. Joe had only seen a small glance of him but couldn't wait to meet him with Demi.
"Get some rest Joseph." Demi demanded from the bed as she tried to sleep seeing that he was reading on the couch. He finished his sentence before looking over.
"I'm making sure you're asleep before I get any." Joe answered.
"Sure I've been through surgery but you've been awake the whole time Joe worrying about us both which I don't blame you but I can't imagine how exhausted you'll be." Demi explained Joe sighing laying down on the couch.
"Happy?" Joe questioned Demi giggling nodding her head.
"Very, get some rest." She demanded again watching as his eyes drooped closed smiling as she almost instantly heard his light snores. It meant she could get some rest.
They both woke up about four hours later not wanting to get too much sleep otherwise they wouldn't sleep tonight. Demi imagined she'd be in hospital for a couple of days but they didn't know how long they would be coming back and visiting their sick son for. A doctor soon came through when he saw that they were both awake.
"How are you feeling?" He questioned.
"Better now I've had some rest." Demi admitted straightening her hair a little bit.
"You do have sepsis yourself which can easily be controlled with these antibiotics for times a day for two weeks," He stated passing her a packet which she took sighing slightly. She knew she had passed this onto Kai and it could be more threatening for the little boy. "If you're feeling up to it a midwife will take you down to see your son for a little while."
"I'm feeling fine," Demi demanded Joe chuckling kissing the side of her head. "I just really want to see him."
"I'll let a midwife know and he or she will take you down." He promised leaving the room Demi leaning her head on Joe's chest.
"I gave this infection to Kai." Demi mumbled.
"But it's nothing that could be helped, don't blame yourself." Joe assured her locking his arms around her kissing her shoulder blade which was closest.
"I'd just hate it if he were to not fully recover from this or even die." Demi mumbled not wanting to think about burying her son but Joe just squeezed her gently without hurting her.
"Don't think about it Demi, he's in the best place." Joe encouraged kissing her hair gently Demi smiling as she closed her eyes.
Demi was pushed across the hospital in a wheelchair by Joe who was following a midwife. She had been telling them all about Kai's condition but it would look fine from a look. He just needs medicine to help him get better before he could come home. As long as the doctors were sure his infection was improving he could go home and Joe and Demi could finish his antibiotics off.
"Is he tiny?" Demi asked.
"See for yourself, he's over in the corner." She instructed smiling at them both. Joe thanked her before he made his way over to the corner where his son was. He could see from where he was his son laid there sleeping but he parked the wheelchair up helping Demi stand up on her feet so she could see herself. Her eyes glazed with tears.
"He's so beautiful." Demi whispered but Joe heard her.
"Yeah he is." Joe breathed as they kept their eyes on their son.
