"What is your favourite thing to do with mommy?" Joe questioned Nevaeh as they wondered through the gardens hand in hand. He hoped to get Nevaeh to open up to him a little bit more. He found it adorable that she had a crush on him but she wasn't the first little girl, he seemed to have a way with the little girls but not so much the grownups.
"Mommy sometimes cooks with me, me like doing that." Nevaeh stated.
"What do you cook with mommy?"
"Brownies, cookies, muffins..." She begun before Joe cut her off.
"I see someone has a sweet tooth," Nevaeh grinned but he could see that she was getting tired beginning to walk a bit slower. "Do you want to go back."
"No me having fun." Joe smiled leaning down lifting her up holding her against his hip so she could rest a little bit while they continued to saunter.
"That better?" Joe questioned looking up at her Nevaeh nodding her head gently Joe smiling when she kissed his cheek gently. He seemed to have grown a bond quickly with Nevaeh and he didn't know why but he knew she was a special girl who was going to go through a life threatening operation that she might not make through. "Thank you Nevaeh."
"Mommy said one day I will marry a handsome man, will you marry me?" Joe chuckled gently still looking at her. She was so sweet.
"Sure, when shall we set the date?" Joe grinned making the little girl squeal. Joe leaned over kissing her cheek gently this time.
"Now!" She demanded.
"We need to get so much ready before we can get married, we can't do it now!" Joe exclaimed making her frown. Joe couldn't help but smile, he'll admit how much she looked like her mother, her eyes, her nose, her smile. She was as beautiful as her mother was.
Joe set Nevaeh down on the bed pulling the duvet up her body so she was comfortable. Nevaeh stuck her finger in her mouth bringing her stuffed polar bear up in her arms as she slowly fell to sleep, Joe couldn't help but smile seeing how cute she was, he wanted a little girl or boy of his own one day that he could watch sleep and wonder how he got so lucky.
"Hi." Demi breathed as she entered the curtained area, Joe looked behind him smiling as she stood next to him smiling at her sleeping girl.
"She just dropped off, the operation is scheduled for tomorrow." Joe explained.
"Great," Demi sighed slightly but thanked him when he took her hand squeezing it gently before letting go. "Did she open up to you or was she still shy?"
"She opened up enough to ask me to marry her." Demi couldn't help but awe, as she cooed down at her little girl.
"What did you say?"
"Well I didn't want to disappoint her so I said yes, I figured we'd throw a little party tonight and she can wear a cute little dress that's if you will let me marry your daughter." Demi giggled.
"You don't have to do that for her." Demi stated.
"She might not make it through this operation and it's my job to make sure she's happy beforehand so I'll do it," Demi nodded her head gently. "Mom's been moaning at me to settle down with someone." Demi couldn't help but laugh as she sat down in the chair she had spent a lot of her time moving some hair away from Nevaeh's face.
"Thanks for everything, your making her a happy girl." Demi spoke Joe telling that she really was thankful through her tone.
"It's not a problem, it's why I picked this job so I can make children happy." Joe shrugged his shoulders but had a smile on his face as he left to go attend to other children.
