Joe made his way into work the next morning spending some time with some of the other kids before he would go see Nevaeh off for her operation. He'd be there for Demi too knowing how tough it must be to be going through that as a parent. He didn't know himself because he wasn't a parent but he could guess how tough it would just by seeing how hurt his parents were when him or his brothers got seriously hurt or even when they were just ill.

"Do you feel better Jackson?" Joe questioned handing him a toy seven year old boy nodded his head. He had just been given the clear for cancer, it was sad for him to see so many children coming in with cancer but just recently more and more have been able to be cured.

"I'll miss you Joey." Jackson mumbled.

"And I'll miss you too, if you see me at the mall or something come over and say hello alright? I'd love that." Jackson grinned nodding his head.

"Okay!" Jackson held his arms out for a hug Joe smiling as he leaned down hugging the boy wrapping his arms around him Jackson wrapping his tiny arms around him. Joe soon pulled away ruffling his hair making the boy giggle.

"See you soon." He promised before leaving the room. He didn't like saying bye to some patients at times but at the same time it was a good thing for them to leave. They shouldn't have to get used to being in a hospital, they should be at home with their parents, he knew it would be a sad time when he had to say goodbye to Nevaeh or if. He prayed Nevaeh would make it through this operation because there was a chance the little girl wouldn't make it through this.

Joe entered the curtained area where he knew Nevaeh would be getting ready for her operation, he would keep to his promise and see her before she went off. It was clear she had a connection with him and he didn't want to leave her alone if she wanted him there, he would be the one who would prepare her anyway. He frowned slightly when he saw that she was crying against her mother but they both looked in his direction when they heard him.

"Hey, hey what's going on?" Joe questioned holding onto Nevaeh's hand.

"Me hungry." Nevaeh mumbled snuggling up to her mother a little but more, Joe couldn't help but laugh slightly at how cute she was being.

"You can have something when you come out of the operation, it's just something the doctors don't like patients doing before it happens." Joe assured her.

"Joey will it hurt?" Nevaeh sniffled.

"You won't feel a thing, I promise and both mommy and me will be right here when you come out." Joe vowed Nevaeh nodding her head as Demi kissed her hair as she let the tears roll down her cheeks but Joe gave her a reassuring smile that everything would be okay but Demi knew different. She knew that her daughter might not making it through this, it was a major operation for a four year old to go through. Demi tried to keep the tears back but it was hard.

Demi watched as Nevaeh's eyes drooped closed to the last time being held onto Joe and her mother's hands. Demi let the tears fall again knowing that might be the last time she'll see her daughter's eyes but she was staying positive. Joe let go of her hand leaning over kissing Demi's cheek as he stood up Demi cracking a small smile.

"I'll take good care of her I promise." Joe assured her Demi nodding her head.

"T-Thank you." Demi stammered leaning down kissing Nevaeh's head gently before she watched Joe push the bed away. She slumped down on the chair again wiping away her tears as she stared down at the floor, it was weird for her to think that her daughter's life was in the hands of a team of doctors but she had every faith in them that they would get the job done and do a good job.
