Joe entered the hospital the next day after an enjoyable night with Demi, he was tired after leaving her house around eleven but it was worth it because he had fallen even more for her other the night which he didn't think was possible. He changed into his uniform before making his way over to Charles's office knocking on the door gently only entering when he told him to come in which he did greeting him as he took a seat.
"What's wrong?" Charles inquired. He was an old man, an experienced doctor which was why he was in charge of a whole section of a hospital.
"I was just wondering if it would work if I were to foster Zack and Mason until they can find a home together? I just don't like the idea of them being separated." Joe admitted.
"The decision is yours, you'll get two months off paid but after that you would have to find someone to look after them during work hours." Charles explained.
"Sounds reasonable, it's just a hard decision for me to make. A decision which will change my life." Joe sighed running his fingers through his hair gently.
"Do you want my advice?" Joe nodded his head gently. "You have grown a strong bond with Zack for a reason and it's because you're a great man, able to get through to children. They won't be your real sons but you will still be a brilliant father to them. I think you'll still need to think about it a little bit but my opinion, go for it."
"Thanks sir, I'll think about it." Joe promised standing up.
"One more thing Joseph," Charles stated Joe looking down at him. "Take two weeks off, you're working yourself too hard."
"I'm fine sir, I promise." Joe insisted but Charles shook his head.
"I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. You look shattered, you need some time to yourself." Charles demanded Joe taking a seat again.
"But I'm so far away from being where I want to be." Joe mumbled.
"I know but you need to think about something else," Joe was curious. "I want to offer you a permeant job as a nurse on the children's ward, head. I know you want to be a doctor but you're so good at what you do now and I saw how you reacted when Zack came in, I think nursing is what you need and will enjoy as much as if you were to become a paediatrician."
"I-I'll think about it." Joe stammered leaving the room as he was told to go home.
"Joey!" Nevaeh exclaimed as she saw him enter the living room Demi not far behind him. He smiled lifting her up kissing her cheek gently.
"Hi Nevaeh, you feel better now?" Joe inquired Nevaeh nodding her head.
"Me and mommy went outside to play earlier!" She exclaimed.
"Wow! I bet that was fun." He cooed sitting down on the couch with her on his lap Demi taking her place back switching the TV on.
"Joey not working to help little boys and girls?" Nevaeh asked.
"No, Joey has some time off." He answered.
"To play with me?" Nevaeh questioned.
"Of course but Joey will have somebody else to play with now." Joe explained Demi looking over at him a small smile on his face.
"Why?"
"Because I'm going to be looking after two little boys for a while." He revealed a smile on his face but he could see Nevaeh was unsure.
"You'll be great which them Joe, don't worry about it." Demi encouraged Joe nodding his head. He'll admit he was nervous but he knew it would change their lives and give them both the childhood they deserved.
