It took about three hours for all people who needed it to be sent off to hospital and for the highway to be cleared away so the road could be opened again but not before Joe and Demi left being the first on the road. They both helped as much as they could but even Joe was only training and only how to be a children's doctor so things were a bit different for him.

"Are you okay?" Joe breathed Demi nodding her head.

"I'm just glad we could help." Demi admitted but Joe could see that she was still shaken up. Some people had died here today and it was hard to wrap your mind around how it could have been you if it happened moments later.

"I'm sure the people appreciate it but Dems don't worry about what happened, it won't happen again." Joe stated Demi sighing.

"Don't say something you can't help; it was your quick reactions that saved us from being part of the pile up. You could have saved our baby's life Joe."

"I'd like to think I did but what happened today shouldn't have, people died who shouldn't have just because one person weren't concentrating. No end of people die on roads every year and it shouldn't happen." Joe complained feeling Demi take his hand as he pulled up outside his parent's house, she leaned over kissing him gently Joe kissing her back before they both pulled away leaving a smile on both their faces.

"If you could change the word I know you would Joe but we have each other now and soon to be a baby, we can help one another through times like this." Demi stated Joe nodding his head in agreement but she knew neither of them would forget what happened any time soon.

Denise pulled both Joe and Demi into a hug as they entered the house Joe hugging his mother back for a bit longer than Demi had but he knew his parents liked Demi.

"I'm glad you're both okay, it could have been a lot different." Denise stated kissing Joe's cheek gently. She didn't want to think about burying one of her sons and she shouldn't have to. They had a close call today being in the right place at the right time. They all knew it could have played out a lot different.

"Mom we have something to tell you and dad before we see the kids." Joe breathed Denise nodding her head leading them both into the kitchen where Paul was preparing dinner. He greeted his son and his girlfriend Joe giving his father a hug before they all sat down.

"What is it sweetie?" Denise inquired Joe grabbing hold of Demi's hand looking down at her, she had already asked to tell them herself. She didn't have her own parents to tell and it wouldn't feel right not telling anyone close to them.

"I'm having a baby, Joe's baby." Demi revealed giggling when Denise squealed slightly standing up pulling her into a hug.

"Are you both healthy after what happened?" Denise inquired Demi nodding her head.

"We actually had a scare earlier this morning, Demi was bleeding and when we went the midwife thought we may have had twins but lost one." Joe explained.

"But at least you still have this little one to look forward to, congratulations." Paul praised patting his son on the back.

"Exactly, our first grandchild Paul!" Denise exclaimed making them all laugh. "Can't a mother be excited?" She leaned up pinching Joe's cheeks.

"Mom it's nice that you're happy and supportive but I like my cheeks un-stretched!" He exclaimed Denise laughing pulling away.

"I guess I should get knitting some hats, I may even get the girl I always wanted!" She rushed out Joe shaking his head at her but pulled Demi into a hug.

"I love you." He whispered in her ear soon hearing her reply back in his ear.
