Fifty Six

Joe sighed as Demi showed her look of concern towards him. He leaned over kissing her gently before getting up following Zack into the living room seeing him sat down on the floor with his SpongeBob and Patrick toy. He took in a deep breath before wondering over sitting on the floor opposite him smiling when he passed him Patrick so they could play together.

"Do you not want this baby?" Joe inquired, it was hard to say knowing that the baby was his own baby, part of him as much as it was Demi and for Zack to show this much uninterested was worrying him slightly.

"I don't know." He stated Joe having to hold back his tears slightly. It was the first full sentence that he had spoken since he had arrived her or since he was even at the hospital.

"What are you worried about?" Joe asked wanting him to ask as many questions as he wanted about his little brother or sister. If he would but the one sentence he spoke was enough to make Joe's day, he couldn't explain how proud he was.

"Who will look after Mason?" He inquired.

"Zack both me and Demi will still be able to look after Mason and by the time the baby comes he will be much older and won't need as much looking after. But with a new-born baby brings a lot of work and we won't be around as much, you'll understand all this when you're older." Joe explained Zack looking up at him.

"Baby name?" He inquired making Joe chuckle.

"We don't know if we have a baby boy or girl yet and we haven't thought about any yet but I'm sure we would love some suggestions in a little while. Do you think you could help?" Zack nodded his head smiling slightly.

"And with baby?" He questioned Joe nodding his head.

"Of course both you and Nevaeh can be our little helpers," Joe stated. "Look when the baby comes things will be different I'll admit; we'll have to adjust again to having a new schedule but things will get better. We're all going to move into one house so Nevaeh will be around all the time and Demi, we'll go on days out and things. We'll all have a good time I promise," Zack nodded his head gently. "Now do you want to come and have you're slice of cake?" He laughed as Zack nodded his head again but quickly lunging for him Joe smiling as he held him standing up again.

Once Zack had finished his cake and was playing with Nevaeh Joe and Demi had cleaned up in the kitchen Joe grabbed Demi's hand leading her into the bedroom which confused her slightly but she sat on the bed letting him sit next to her wrapping his arm around her.

"Zack spoke and more than one word," Joe revealed Demi looking up at him seeing the look of surprise on his face but she could see how proud he was. "I-I was really starting to think I wasn't good enough for him and he should go to parents who know what they're doing but he finally spoke and full sentences." Demi kissed him gently Joe kissing back before she pulled away leaning up wiping the tears that has fallen from his eyes.

"That's great news Joe! He's really come a far way since he arrived here and that's because of your patience with him. I've never known someone as patient as you are." Demi praised.

"Thanks," Joe breathed. "I'm just so happy."

"I know you are and you have every right to be, he's an amazing little boy who didn't have a great start in life but thanks to you taking him and Mason in you're giving him the life he deserves. You're a good man Joseph." Joe smiled kissing her again.

"We have given him a great life, not me. You're showing him what it's like to have a caring mother as I'm showing him what it's like to have a caring father. We're parenting together already Demi." Demi smiled feeling his hand on her bump.

"Then this baby can't be that hard." Demi grinned Joe laughing.

"I don't know about that one Demi." He answered making her laugh as well leaning her head on his shoulder as he embraced her sideward.
