Demi stayed by Nevaeh's side the whole time only leaving her side to go to the bathroom. Joe brought her food because she completely lost track of what time it was, he would spend his break times with her but he was with the other children most of the time, Nevaeh didn't need looking after as school but he would check on her every couple of hours. Demi was thankful for the support, she was worried for her daughter. Joe could see how much she really did love her little girl. As promised Nevaeh was kept in a deep sleep for a day while she recovered, she wouldn't be in so much pain when she woke up but Demi knew she still would be. At the moment the doctor had just taken everything away from her leaving Nevaeh to wake up by herself, Joe would assess her when she was awake and more comfortable. Demi was relieved that all the wires were gone.

"How long will it take for her to wake up?" Demi questioned looking up at Joe as he came through, he sat down next to her taking hold of her hand.

"Ten, twenty minutes," Joe replied kissing the side of her head leaving his lips there longer than needed. Demi cracked a small smile leaning her head on his shoulder. "Your an amazing mom you know?" Joe praised.

"Thanks, I'd like to think I am." Demi breathed.

"You are, you can see in your eyes how much you love her." Joe answered.

"I really do love her, I don't know where I'd be without her," Demi admitted pulling away looking over at him. "When you become a father one day you'll realise, I know you care about all these kids but your own child is different."

"I'll let you know when the time comes." Joe joked Demi laughing slightly looking over at Nevaeh again watching her little chest rise up and down.

"Hopefully now she'll be a healthy little girl and we won't have to have anymore hospital trips." Joe squeezed her hand gently.

"Her body has taken well to the new heart, I don't think any problems will come up. There will be obvious things like not being able to do strenuous exercise as she grows and so on but that's better than her coming here all the time isn't it?" Demi nodded her head.

"As long as I have her I don't care what sort of condition she's in." Demi smiled as he pecked her lips gently both of them watching over the young girl. Joe had grown a strong connection with her over the time, he too didn't want her to be in any sort of pain.

It was about fifteen minutes later that Nevaeh started to wake up. They both got up from their chairs making their way over to the bed Demi taking hold of her tiny hand, she wanted her daughter to know that she was here. Nevaeh groaned slightly but her eyes opened a whimper releasing from her lips Demi squeezing her hand gently.

"I'm here baby girl, you're going to be okay." Demi assured her daughter.

"You can lay with her if you want, just watch her chest." Joe suggested Demi not wasting any time to lay down next to her daughter wrapping her arm around her Nevaeh laying her head on her shoulder threatening to cry but she wanted to be strong, she didn't like to worry her mom.

"New heart?" She stammered slightly.

"Yes! You have a new heart baby girl, one which won't cause you any pain." Demi praised kissing her hair gently.

"Joey." Nevaeh mumbled Joe smiling taking hold of her hand as she reached out for him to do so but not holding it too tight.

"I'm here, are you in any pain?" Nevaeh nodded her head gently Joe turning towards Demi. "I'll go get her something and a drink of water." Demi smiled watching as he walked away, Demi didn't say anything to Nevaeh, just held her as she sobbed gently from the slight pain she was in. She hoped everything would change for them both now.
