The first week of March arrived like a proverbial lion. Four days of extreme winter weather had kept Bam home from work. Three stories up on slick plywood roof sheathing was not a safe place to be in frozen, rainy conditions.
Being stuck in his small apartment in the middle of a big city was making him go stir-crazy, however, it did give him time to think about what Myra had said. Perhaps he was making mountain out of a molehill and October wouldn't think it was a big deal.October packed her equipment and gave her hotel room one last scan to make sure she hadn't left anything behind. After three days of photographing the West Coast Winter Music Festival in Victoria she was exhausted but so ready to be back in Bam's arms again. With Seattle being a mere three hundred kilometres away, she hopped on a ferry across the strait of Juan de Fuca and met Bam at Bremerton. She spotted him outside the terminal and ran straight for his arms, which he held open for her. His smile shone like a beacon. He wrapped his arms around her and lifted her off her feet. She buried her face in his hair and breathed his scent in deeply. "I missed you so much." She whispered.
They stood locked in a tight embrace for a long time. When October took a step back to look at his face, she noticed for the first time, a large camera being pointed directly at them. Her eyes narrowed. "What's this?" She turned a questioning look to Bam.
He shrugged. "That's Dan. He's filming for the next season. He's been following me off and on for a few weeks."
October angled herself so that Bam's body was shielding her from the camera's view. "Then why is he filming me?" She hissed.
Bam winced. He had misjudged. Apparently it was a big deal. "Um, yeah." He faltered. "I need to talk to you about that."
