Author's Note;
Sorry I've been AWOL. Life happens, ya know? But I want to assure you that I have NOT lost interest in this story. I still have LOTS of ideas and many, MANY things planned for these characters. I promise I will not be one of those authors who just abandons a story to leave you all hanging. Thank you for sticking with me (and keep the comments and votes coming). Here is a longer than usual chapter to make up for my absence!

"Are you sure you don't want to come with us today?" Bam asked as he and October walked from the trapper shack through the yard.
"Yes, I'm sure. I'm tired today and it's my turn to cook." She replied.
Not long after she and Bam arrived back in Browntown, October realized that Amber had taken on the responsibility of planning and cooking every meal for the whole crew. Knowing that everyone pitched in at Browntown, she volunteered to help wherever she could. Tonight she was in charge of the supper meal.
Bam grinned. "Oh no. Should I tell Noah to keep the fire extinguisher at the ready?"
October smacked his shoulder lightly. "You haven't starved to death yet."
Bam stopped walking and wrapped his arms around her waist. "That's because I've been living on love."
"And spaghetti." She added before drawing him closer for a sweet kiss.
"I could never forget the spaghetti." He whispered huskily, remembering their banter after the first time they had made love.
"Oh, gross!" Bear's voice interrupted loudly.
October caught the twinkle in Bam's eye as he covered her mouth with his and aggressively swiped his tongue along the inside of her bottom lip. After he pulled away, October blushed and buried her face in the front of his jacket.
"Cock blocker." Bam whispered before the two of them turned to watch Bear descend his tree house and then help Rosanna do the same. October giggled and planted a quick kiss on his lips before greeting their intruders.
"Good morning." She smiled sheepishly, still clinging close to Bam's chest.
"A very good one indeed." Bear replied while hugging Rosanna close to his side with one arm.
"Are you going to town this morning?" October asked Rosanna as the group made their way towards the main cabin.
Rosanna shook her head. "I thought I'd hang out with you girls today. Bear said he has things to do and I promised Rainy I would help her catch up with her algebra this afternoon."
Bam frowned. "What do you mean 'catch up'? Has she fallen behind in her school work? She was ahead when I left for Alberta."
"Yeah, well, she was ahead so we let her slack a little while you gone." Bear explained, hoping that would be the end of the conversation.
Bam pressed his mouth into a thin line. "Amber thought this was okay? I thought she was supervising the home schooling." It seemed unlike Amber to allow something like that to happen.
Bear fidgeted his hand around Rosanna's and sighed. "Amber was sick while you were gone. Matt spent most of his time taking care of her. The rest of us picked up the slack. We had to finish up getting ready for winter and Rainy's studies kind of took a back seat to that." Bear shrugged.
Bam scrubbed his free hand over his face and sighed. "Rainy has to be at state grade level by the end of the year, otherwise she won't advance to the next grade. Maybe it would be easier if she went to a traditional school." He said more to himself than to Bear.
"You mean send her back to Seattle?" Bear questioned as he held the front door of the cabin open for them to walk through. Bam shook his head but remained silent as he took off his boots and surveyed the room.
Birdie was sitting at the table with Gabe and Noah. Amber stood at the sink with Matt's chin resting on her shoulder. Matt's hands gripped the counter on either side of Amber's body while he whispered in her ear. Bam watched them for a moment. He didn't know Amber had been sick but now that it had been mentioned, she did look a little thinner. And even though she smiled at Matt's whispered words, her smile had a frailty to it that hadn't been there before. No one had mentioned that she had been sick until now and he hadn't had time to visit with Amber since he had been back. He had been so wrapped up in October and the baby that he was letting other things slip.  He thought he might ask Matt about it later and then in the next thought he concluded that it was none of his business.
Rainy's education however, was his business and he promised he would talk to his youngest sister about it the first chance he got.

Bam closed the door to the trapper shack and quietly removed his boots. He smiled as his eyes moved over the sleeping form on the bed in the corner. Kneeling on the mattress, he leaned over and pressed his lips behind October's ear. "Baby, wake up." He whispered. October murmured sleepily, rolled over to face him and opened her eyes. "When did you get back from town?" She asked as she ran her fingers through his hair and pulled him closer. "Just now." He replied. "I have something to tell you."
October sat up on the bed and eyed him carefully. "What's wrong?"
Bam grinned and kissed the tip of her nose. "Why must you always assume the worst? Nothing's wrong. I got the job."
October's eyes widened and she broke into a big grin. "You got the job? Oh Bam, that's wonderful!" She said excitedly. She flung her arms around his neck and covered his face in kisses. "I'm so proud of you!" Bam laughed. "You'll have to start paperwork for the permits as soon as possible." She reminded.
"Birdie and I already started on that this afternoon. It's almost ready to submit."
October rubbed her palm along Bam's beard. "I'm happy to be going home but that means that you will be leaving yours."
Bam caught her hand with his and pressed it against his cheek. "My home is wherever you are." Then he moved his hand down to her stomach. "And where baby is." October gasped as she felt a sharp jab in response. "Oh! I think she liked that."
"Yes, I think he does!" Bam grinned. "Did you sleep all afternoon?"
October shook her head. "No, I spent most of the time you were gone getting supper prepped. I came back here to get cleaned up." She gestured towards the woodstove. "I guess I fell asleep waiting for the water to heat."
Bam donned a wolfish grin and pulled the covers back. He let out a low whistle of appreciation for her body displayed before him clad only in a lace bra and panties. "Before you clean yourself up, let's make sure you are good and dirty." October squealed as he snatched his shirt over his head and moved over her on the bed. He steadied himself by putting his hands on either side of her body and let out a throaty laugh when her hands started to unbuckle the belt at his waist. "That didn't take much convincing." He growled, trailing kisses down her throat.
October nodded. "I've been waiting for this all afternoon." She replied huskily as she curled her fingers around his length.
Bam brought his head back up to look her in the eye and cocked an eyebrow. "Just that?" He pretended to be hurt.
"Oh no, Mr. Brown, not just that." She smiled coyly and ran her palms up his chest. "And this." She said as her fingers teased his nipples into little pebbles. "And this." She moved one hand up to fist in his soft curls. "And this." She ran her other hand along his beard and stopped to touch her fingers to his lips. Bam held her face between his hands and captured her mouth with his. He moved his tongue across the seam of her lips until she granted him access to the sweetness behind them. His hands moved gently over every curve of her body. He knew what she liked and he wanted to give it all to her. October lifted her hips so he could slide her lace panties down her legs. He threw them across the room and returned his hands to caress her soft skin. She gasped into his mouth when his fingers brushed against her moist womanhood. He tore his mouth away from hers. "Damn, Woman! You're all ready for me." He stood quickly and removed his jeans and socks. When he returned to the bed, he flipped her on top of him so he laid flat on his back and October straddled his hips. When he lifted her up to help guide her body over him, his name fell from her lips like a whispered prayer. "Bam." She repeated as she rocked on her knees and found the rhythm that brought him to the edge. October reached behind her back to unclasp her bra, letting her breasts free to bounce before him. He lifted his head to capture one pink nipple with his mouth. Bam licked it, sucked it, bit it and then let it go to do the same to the other. He gripped her hips as their motions became more heated, more desperate. October's panting reached a higher pitch letting him know that she was close to her climax. He pressed his palm against her cheek and gazed into her whisky-hazel depths. "Come for me, baby." He whispered. He didn't think he had ever seen her look more beautiful as she closed her eyes and her head fell back. Her full lips opened slightly and she whimpered with his every thrust as she rode out the wave of pleasure. Watching her ecstasy brought Bam to his own climax. She clenched around him as he spasmed underneath her with a loud grunt. She collapsed on his chest and moved her lips over his neck and under his chin while both of their breathing slowed. Bam wrapped his arms around her shoulders and planted a kiss on her temple. "Yep." He murmured into her caramel tresses as she giggled. "Still better than spaghetti."
