It took a little convincing on Bam's part and a lot of reassuring on August's part to get October to leave Isabella in her brother's care for one night. Once she agreed to it though, she was determined to have a nice time with her husband and not worry about her daughter. She knew Isabella was in good hands. She trusted August. Besides, August had Rainy and Birdie there for backup.
Bam and October arrived at the hotel late in the afternoon. "Oh, Bam, this is amazing!" October exclaimed as he ushered her into their room from the corridor. She spun around slowly and took in her surroundings. The room was opulently appointed with antique furniture and lavish fittings in elegant but subdued colours. A tall, four-poster, king sized bed took up most of room. A thick down filled comforter spread across the bed adorned with several over stuffed pillows cased in deep burgundy brocade and edged in black fringe. Crisp ivory sheets pinstriped with golden threads peeked out from underneath the duvet. A large chaise of deep-yellow, crushed velvet sat at the foot of the bed. To the side was a black leather loveseat with a mahogany-stained, fruitwood coffee table. Bam flicked on the lamp at the end of the couch, illuminating the hall to the large bathroom complete with jetted tub big enough for two.

"Wow!" October said in a reverent whisper. Kicking off her shoes with a shriek that caught Bam off-guard, October flung herself across the bed and let her body sink into the plush fabrics. Her tired body welcomed the rest and she immediately closed her eyes to revel in the feeling of the relaxation.

She felt Bam's weight on the mattress and then his lips on her throat as he brought the length of his body above hers. Her mouth stretched into a smile right before he covered it, pushing his tongue inside to seek out hers. October felt his denim-clad knee move between her legs and nudge them apart. She clutched his biceps in her hands and arched her back to press her breasts into his chest. Bam cradled the back of her head in one hand as she deepened his kiss. His other moved down the curve of her back to crush her hips into the hollow of his. He moaned wantonly into her mouth.

"Bam." She said, tearing her mouth away from him. She gasped, panting for breath and struggling to regain control of her hormones. "If we don't stop, we'll never get to our dinner reservation."

"I don't see this as being a problem." His voice was lightly muffled as her pressed his lips down her chest and between her breasts.

October raised herself up on her elbows. "I bought a gorgeous new outfit and I am not going to miss the chance to wear it."

Bam groaned and rolled on to his back beside her. "Damn Woman, you're going to kill me."

October leaned her head over to rest on his shoulder. "We have all night, baby. Let's enjoy it."

"Oh, I plan to enjoy you." He replied huskily. "All night, all ways, all places." He added while glancing around the room and taking stock of the furniture pieces. "All positions."

"I promise the wait will be worth it." October propped herself up to lean over and plant a kiss on his cheek. "Besides, I'm hungry. Aren't you hungry?"

"Only for you." he growled and lunged for her again. October sat up quickly and pulled her shirt tail out of his grasp. "Wait till you see the dress Robert helped me pick out. You're going to love it!"

Bam fell back onto the pillows and glared at the ceiling in frustration. "You could just show it to me on the hanger." He replied sullenly.

October scrambled off the bed and grabbed her suitcase. "Nope!" She chirped. "No pouting, baby. Get yourself ready because I am going to blow your mind!"

Bam rolled onto his side to watch her flit across the carpet in her bare feet. He cocked a crooked grin and growled. "I'd rather have you blow my-" October closed the door to the bathroom before he could finish his sentence. "Fine!" He called through the door. "We'll go to dinner first. You better order something big. You're going to need your strength."

October giggled as she stopped for a moment to gaze at the oversized tub longingly. She wanted to fill it full of lavender bubbles and immerse herself up to her neck. Later, she promised herself, with a naked Bam and a bottle of champagne.

She hung her garment bag on the hook at the back of the door and zipped it open. Robert really did have an eye for figure-flattering designs. 'If this doesn't get him excited, check his pulse.' Robert quipped when she emerged from the dressing room with it on. She smiled to herself as she thought about her husband on the other side of the door. He obviously didn't need to see her in a hot dress to get him excited but she wanted this. She wanted the chase. She wanted to be pursued. After months of feeling uncomfortable with her own body, she was finally starting to feel like herself again. She wanted to feel wanted. She wanted Bam to want her the way she wanted him. She dumped her makeup bag on the counter, plugged in her flat-iron and started getting herself made-up.

Twenty-five minutes had passed and Bam had already knocked on the door three times. "October, please. I don't care what you wear, I'm only going to tear it off you anyway and if you don't come out of there soon, I'm going to tear it off of you before we even go down for dinner."

October was losing patience, not with Bam, but with her hair. For some reason she couldn't get it to do anything. She brushed it out, yet again, to start over. Changing her attention from her hair to her clothes, she took her dress off the hanger and slid it over her head. She looked at herself critically in the mirror. How did she ever think this looked good on her? Every one of her lumps and bumps showed. The cleavage that Robert convinced her was classy the other day only made her look like a high class hooker in the harsh lighting of the hotel bathroom.

"October!" Bam pounded on the door, this time not bothering to mask the irritability in his voice.

October slammed her hairbrush down on the counter. "Bam, if you knock on that door one more time, I swear to god I will scream." She raised her voice sharply so to be heard through the wooden door. "If you can't be bothered to wait for me, then go downstairs and have a drink in the lounge."

She sensed his hesitation at her affected tone. "How much longer do you plan to be?" He asked gruffly.

"I will get there when I get there!" She huffed. "Now go away and leave me alone so I can finish getting ready." She listened for him to reply but instead heard his footsteps fade away and the distinct snick of the door latch slipping into the closed position.

She turned back to her own reflection in the mirror. In her opinion, she was going to need a lot more than a few extra minutes. She was going to need a miracle.

After another twenty minutes of doing everything she could think of to make herself look better, and failing, October resolved herself to a plain old French braid that she wore almost every day of her life. She pulled her dress over her head for the third and last time, zipped it up the back and smeared on some pink lip gloss. "Well," she said to herself, "That's about as good as it's gonna get." She left the bathroom with a thin-lipped grimace and a disappointed sigh.
