Although she was unsure of the circumstance, she seized the opportunity that he presented to her. Her response was immediate. She moved her lips softly against his before opening her mouth to receive his tongue. He tasted her sweet warmth and delved deeper into it. A low moan emitted from Bam's chest as she brought her hands up to knot her fingers in his long curls.
October broke away too soon, and buried her face into his chest when one of his brothers cat-called from down the beach. Making a mental note to seriously maim Matt in the near future, Bam put his index finger under October's chin and tilted her face up to him. Her lips were full and swollen. Her eyes were still shining from her tears. Her cheek was red from his beard rubbing against her skin.
A hot flash of primal desire spiked through his core. Her eyes mirrored the same emotion but just as quickly clouded over when she glanced over his shoulder to the others. She took two steps back and dropped her arms from him.
She gathered her camera bag, heaved it onto her shoulder and tried to slow her racing pulse. She turned back to him just as he was silently cursing himself for being so forward when he knew how private she was. She lay one hand flat against his chest across his hammering heart.
"We'll figure it out, Bam." She whispered and then left him standing by the water. He watched her slender form as she walked across the clearing and into the shelter of the trees. He could still feel her handprint over his heart.
He didn't see her again before he left the next morning.

We'll figure it out.
That's the last thing she had said to him. He mulled the one sentence over in his mind for the entire trip and even when he arrived back in Hoonah.
We'll figure it out.
It was like he was grasping at the frayed ends of a promise he wasn't sure she had made. How were they going to figure it out with her gone and him back in Alaska? He hasn't even gotten her phone number.
Filming wrapped in four days and then his mind would be uncluttered enough to find a way to figure out a way for him to see her again.

We'll figure it out.
We'll figure it out? What had she been thinking when she said that to him?
October had left Hoonah early the next morning. She didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to Bam. When she arrived back home she was so immersed in funeral arrangements and settling her grandmother's estate that she didn't have time to think.
Now, two weeks later when her life was getting back to normal she found her mind wandering back to Alaska, back to Hoonah, back to that day at the beach and the kiss she had shared with Bam.
...and the words she had told him. "Well figure it out."
Admittedly at the time she didn't have the emotional capacity to do anything else but in hindsight, it seemed pretty lousy. She didn't even know if he hadn't already forgotten about her. And she hadn't even gotten his phone number.
She had to fix this.
