October rocked her hips gently underneath Bam as he rode out his orgasm. With a low groan he rolled onto his back and pulled her across his chest. Bam closed his eyes as he felt her lips on his throat. "Merry Christmas Lover." She whispered. He could hear the smile in her voice. He hummed appreciatively without opening his eyes. "Merry Christmas Wife." He replied huskily.
October sighed. "I want to stay in bed all day." Bam grinned. "Good idea. Can we do that again?"
October laughed and pulled herself up to sitting position. Bam made a noise of protest as the warmth of her body left his. She leaned over and gave him a kiss on the middle of his chest. "Ugh, you are so damn cute when you pout."
"Cute is not the look I was going for. I thought you wanted to stay in bed all day."
"I do, unfortunately your demon spawn has other plans."
"Like what?"
"Like kicking my full bladder until it bursts." Bam chuckled as October rubbed her hand across her stomach. "And I'm hungry." She added. Bam shifted under the blankets and knelt on the bed in front of October. He put his hands on either side of her stomach and pressed his nose close. "You need to let your mother rest, little one. " He said sternly. October giggled as he placed a kiss on her bare stomach. October felt a sharp kick in response. She winced. "Now I really have to go." Bam chuckled again and watched as she pulled on a pair of sweats and one of his tshirts. She slipped on her boots and went outside. Bam sighed and threw the covers back. He pulled on clothes of his own and left the shack to gather firewood and heat water so they could get ready to celebrate the day ahead.

The living room of the main cabin was a torrent of ripped paper and opened packages, talking, giggling and laughing. Gabe brought out one last large box that had been hidden behind the tree. "This one is from Mom and Da." He explained. Bam didn't bother asking how it had arrived in Browntown. He knew that some of his siblings were still in touch with his parents and he did not hold that against them. They simply did not talk about it. Gabe opened the top of the box and began handing out smaller wrapped gifts according to the names written on the top of each one. "This one is for Birdie." He handed it to her. "Matt. Rainy. Noah." He handed each a brightly wrapped box.

Bam left his chair and walked into the kitchen. He stood at the sink and watched the birds outside the window. He felt a hand on his back and he unconsciously smiled, knowing who it was without turning around. "Hey." October said soothingly. "Why did you disappear?" Bam shrugged. "I don't expect there to be anything for me in that box. I didn't want to let my animosity towards Da ruin everyone else's mood." October smiled sadly and nodded in agreement. Bam turned to slide his arms around her waist as she linked hers around his neck. "Are you having a good Christmas?" She inquired. Bam planted a soft kiss on her lips. "The best. And you?"

She nodded again. "The best. I'm so glad Auggie could make it."
"How are you feeling? Too tired?" Concern suddenly coloured his tone.
"A little." She replied.
Bam leaned close enough that his lips brushed the shell of her ear. "I could take you to bed right now if you wanted." He pulled back to show her the gleam in his eye.
She flashed him a saucy smirk and shook her head. "Bam! We haven't even had Christmas dinner yet."
"I'm not hungry for Christmas dinner." He quipped.
"Bam!" Bear exclaimed from where he was perched on the back of the couch in the living room. "Bam!"
"Cock blocker." Bam whispered and swept a quick kiss across October's mouth. He turned to Bear and growled good-naturedly. "Are you going to make a habit of this?"
Bear cracked a wide smile. "Maybe I would stop if you hadn't have bought my girlfriend a case of batteries for Christmas!" Bam threw his head back and laughed loud.

"I just wanted to make sure she was taken care of." Bam teased.
Rosanna slid up beside Bear and put a hand on his arm. "It's okay, babe. I will be in Seattle for three months without you." She reminded and winked at Bam. October started to giggle. Bear pouted. "I don't like this one bit." He glared at Bam. Rosanna laid her palm against Bear's chin and whispered something in his ear that made the smile reappear on his face. "I don't want to know." Bam mumbled.
"Here." Bear held a small white envelope out for Bam to take. "This is for you." Bam reached across the kitchen island, took it and flipped it over in his hands. "What is it?" He asked. Bear shrugged. "It was in the box from Mom and Da." The paper suddenly became sticky in Bam's fingers. He dropped it on the counter and took one step back from it.

Bear and Rosanna turned their attention back to the living room leaving Bam and October in the relative privacy of the kitchen. "Aren't you going to open it?" October looked at the envelope. It was plain white and had only one word on the front; 'Bam' written in a spiky script.
"That's my mother's hand writing." He observed off handedly.

"What are you afraid of?" October whispered.
Bam dropped his chin to his chest. "That whatever is in there is going to ruin the rest of my day."
"Bam," she replied gently. "Look around you. Your family is here. They are happy and together. Look at the smiles around the room." She waved her hand towards the living room and then picked up his hand and placed it flat against her stomach. "I'm here and baby is here. Nothing could ruin this day."
Bam closed his eyes and sighed. "You're right." He picked up the thin envelope and tore off the end. He tipped it sideways and one piece of folded paper fell out onto the counter. Bam stared at it for a moment before picking it up with a shaky hand. He held his breath as he unfolded it and scanned his eyes down the length of the paper.
October watched him as his a look of shock registered on his face. "What is it?" She asked with trepidation. He handed the paper to her to see. October looked it over, able to read it but not quite understanding. Bam smiled widely and lifted his head to shout across the room. "Rainy!" He pulled the paper out of October's hand to wave it above his head. "We got permission! You can come with us to Calgary!"
Rainy shrieked as she jumped up from her chair. She flew across the room to throw herself into Bam's arms. "I really can?" She stood back from Bam and looked between him and October for reassurance. October grinned and nodded her head vigorously. Rainy gave Bam another hug and then gave October a quick, gentle squeeze before calling across the room. "Birdie, Auggie! Guess what!" She took off across the cabin leaving Bam and October alone in the kitchen again. She grinned up at him. "And you thought you weren't ready for a baby yet." She quipped. "Ready or not, you now have a teenaged girl."
October watched Bam as his eyes followed his little sister with adoration. "What did I just get myself into?"
