Bam shook his head as he left Matt alone at the fire. As he walked to the trapper shack, he though about what his older brother had just said to him. Hold on to them with all you're worth. That's exactly what he intended to go and do, right that minute.

He opened the door and shuffled inside, trying not to wake October with his heavy footsteps. He immediately took off his shirt, knowing that the lingering smell from Matt's cigarette would make October more queasy than her pregnancy was already making her. He leaned over Isabella's crib to check on his sleeping daughter.

"Where were you hiding?" October whispered sleepily.

He smiled in the moonlight.  "I've been here all night. Did you miss me?" He liked the fact that she had been waiting for him, in his bed.

"She's so beautiful." He murmured as he caressed his callused finger down Isabella's cheek. "Just like her mother." He added, turning his attention back to his wife.

"Don't touch her!" October hissed at him. There was something strange in her voice.

"What's the matter, October?" He asked calmly. He moved closer to the end of the bed and stepped out of his boots.

"It's you." She replied quietly.

"Yes it's me. You were expecting someone else?" He replied, wondering what she was playing at.

"What are you doing here?" She asked. Her voice sounded thick and groggy.

"I've come to make love to you and fall asleep with you in my arms." He stated honestly. Bam continued to undress in the darkness.

He heard her whisper something that he couldn't quite make out and then she moved quickly to the side of the bed. He knelt on the mattress to crawl up the length and lay down beside her. October came at him so quickly he didn't even have time to flinch. He cried out in surprise as he felt a sharp pain on his cheek. Instinctively, his hands shot out and grab around both her wrists. He heard something fall to the floor.

"What are you doing?" He asked, his voice laced with concern and misunderstanding. She continued to fight against him. "Stop it!" He growled as her felt her sharp fingernails dug into his arm.

Isabella's startled cry rose above their struggle. October gasped and turned her head toward the crib. Bam put his arms around October's torso, trying to stop her from moving so erratically. Her body was warm. Hot, even. Too hot.The unmistakable, metallic scent of blood reached his nostrils. His hand was wet against the sheets under her body. Horrified, he ripped the blankets from the bed.

October gave one last shriek of his name before she went limp in his arms. The next sound Bam heard was his own voice screaming for his brother to help.

________________

A really, really short one - I know and I'm sorry. I didn't want to leave you all hanging after the last tiny chapter. I have outlined the rest of the story -sadly yes, even Bam and October's story must come to a close. Because of the way my life is going right now, I am going to go to once a week updates. Now before you rebel about it, I'll tell you why.

I have outlined the rest of the chapters in my story and I don't want to just post tiny little chapters like this any more. I know exactly what I want to happen in each chapter and instead of publishing as soon as I get to 1000 words, I want to write each chapter for what happens.  Does that make sense? So next chapter might be 1000 words or it might be 5000 words. It all depends on how many words it takes me to get to the next point in the story.

I am working more now so that means less time to write. :(

Once a week chapters will be bigger and better. Thanks for sticking with me. This story continues to be a really amazing journey for me. I hope you will continue to stick with me even when I can only update once a week. I'm aiming for every Tuesday. Would love to hear you opinion!
