As the two newlyweds walked up the stairs of the front verandah of the house, Bam stopped October from entering before he scooped her into his arms and carried her over the threshold. "Did you mean to torture me or tease me all night by wearing that lace dress?" He murmured into her ear. October giggled. "Perhaps I meant to do both, Mr. Brown."
"You are a minx." Bam growled and brought his lips to the side of her neck.
"You like it?" She asked shyly as she absently smoothed the material down.
"I love it. I'm going to like it even better messed up on the floor of the bedroom."
October reached behind her back and pulled the zipper down the length of it. "What about messed up on the floor of the library?" She smiled saucily as the lace pooled at her feet and she stepped out of it, her earlier insecurities about her pregnant appearance all but forgotten.
Bam's irises grew dark with lust as he started to unbutton his own shirt. "Damn woman, what you do to me."~*~
"Good morning, lover." October smiled softly as she padded into the kitchen. Bam looked up from his laptop screen and grinned. "Good morning, wife." He replied before kissing her sweetly. She got herself a cup of tea and refilled the cup that sat on the table next to Bam.
"What are you working on?" She asked as she pulled her chair close enough to touch him.
"Well," he started, "I've been keeping in touch with clients for the start of next shipping season, checked in with Matt to see how everything is at home and chatted with my sisters."
"And how are things at home?" She asked.
He took a drink of his tea. "Things are fine and they told me to stop worrying so much."
"Yeah, like that will ever happen." October teased. "Did you tell them about the wedding and the baby?"
He shook his head. "No. I'd like to tell them in person." He hesitated. "If you will come with me."
Bam watched her closely, trying to gauge her reaction at his desire to return to Alaska and to Browntown. "I looked at flights for the two of us to Juneau for Thanksgiving."
"There's still a lot we haven't talked about." She replied with a little trepidation.
"Yes." He agreed and moved closer to take her in his arms. "There's still a lot we need to discuss."They spent much of that day snuggled together under a blanket by the fireplace in the library making plans for their future. After much conversation, they agreed to return to Alaska for Thanksgiving but stay no longer than Christmas, and perhaps not even that long as October was reluctant to spend any Christmas away from her brother. October preferred to spend the last term of her pregnancy in her own home, to which Bam agreed quickly. In the end he would agree to any little whim her pretty lips could care to ask if only he could keep her near him always.
Talking about personal finances is never something easy or comfortable to do, especially for October. She had always been a very independent and autonomous woman able to take care of herself. However, she was now a married woman with a baby on the way. She knew that there was now a much bigger picture.
While Bam had only just begun to build his savings since the recent success of the shipping company, October had been financially self-sufficient since her late teens. Between the two of them, they determined that they would be able to keep their growing family financially stable right from the beginning.
October uploaded hundreds of photos a week to several different stock photography sites which could generate a residual income in perpetuity. She planned to continue with her stock photography business throughout her pregnancy. Of course she planned to take some time once the babe was born mid-February.
In the meantime, Bam planned to find a job in Calgary as soon as they returned from Browntown. Shipping season would start around April or May, at which time, the little tyke would be old enough to travel with Bam and October back to Alaska so Bam could resume his responsibilities at the helm of the shipping business. By the time shipping season was over next fall, October could return part-time to her business. One nice thing about October's line of work was that her hours allowed her to be as flexible as her life required. She predicted that she could keep her photography appointments to evenings and weekends allowing Bam the freedom to pursue employment within the confines of traditional hours, leaving baby always home with one parent present. With a loose framework around their living arrangements agreed upon for the next year or so, the two lovebirds settled in for the evening to watch some TV in the den.
