That afternoon in the underground parking lot of the city general hospital - The fight was on!
Bam went two full rounds in the back seat of the truck with the baby seat and the seat belt. He thought he was down for the count in the third round when the metal seatbelt lock nearly had him beat but Bam rallied valiantly and went on to get the car seat securely fastened to the floor anchor of the truck. Now if there were only video cameras to catch a load of that action!

Back in October's hospital room, Bam verses the baby was setting up to be a real ring-a-ding-dong-dandy and here's how the cards stacked up: In the blue corner we have Bam, who's running on 1.5 hours of sleep, 4 cups of bad hospital coffee and a stale danish, and still on a high from becoming a first time father.

In the yellow corner we have sweet Isabella Louise. She may only be half a day old but don't let that fool you folks! This little girl's baby blues and tiny cries have a way of getting to even the most griseled opponent - especially the tough guys that never admit to crying at the airport kiss scene in Love Actually. Bam approached his opponent with caution. He knew that she could smell his fear. He tried heroically to get those delicate little appendages inside those pink, polka-dotted sleepers to no avail. That baby was wailing like Patti Labelle but Bam remained undaunted. Every time he got one of Isabella's arms in a sleeve, one of her legs would kick out like John Cena rallying in a title match.
If Bam had only added the old 'stuffing an octopus into a tea cosy drill' into his daily training he may have had a fighting chance. When the man knew he had come up against an unbeatable opponent, he bowed his head in defeat and did what any self respecting new father would do.
"October? A little help please?"
He went down swinging ladies and gents.

Ding! Ding! We are in for another night of great action folks! We are back in the underground parking lot of the city general hospital. Bam had successfully changed baby Isabella and placed her in October's arms. He escorted them down to the truck while carrying the bags and holding open doors.

Now he's taking on both opponents at once by getting the baby out of October's arms, into the car seat and snapping said car seat into the base attached to the truck. Can he do it? That's what we are here to find out in 'Bam verses the baby and the car seat: the grudge match! This time it's personal.'

Bam's feeling fortified by another cup of hospital coffee sludge. With a pep talk  and a kiss from his young wife, Bam felt confident enough to take on both opponents at once. Like an expert he gently took the sleeping babe from the arms of her mother and placed her in the car seat. The seatbelt tried to trip him up but Bam was quick on his feet, untwisting it like a seasoned pro. With baby buckled into the seat, now came the real test; putting it into the base. Two clicks and baby Isabella was safely buckled into the seat in the warm truck. Like a true gentlemen, Bam lifted October into the passenger side and helped her with her seatbelt, earning him another well-deserved kiss. Spurred on by the promise of a home cooked meal by brother-in-law August, Bam started the motor and maneuvered the truck out of the parkade and into the night.

What a night folks, what a night! It's all over but the ticker-tape parade. Thanks for tuning in.

Seriously, I dunno what's gotten into me. I have house guests for a week. Did you know that houseguests are like fish? They both stink after three days! Anyway, I'm delirious and I have no idea what was going through my mind when I wrote this chapter. I'm a dork, what can I say?
