There were three loud thumps in quick succession as the boat shifted slightly. Bam bolted upright and yanked his jeans back up around his waist. He bent quickly to scoop October's clothes off the floor and tossed them to her. "They're back already!" He hissed as he pulled his shirt over his head.
October giggled as she quickly redressed. Once Bam was sure that his wife was sufficiently covered, he flipped the lock on the door and left the cabin to go help his brothers. She heard them securing their load up top while she tidied the cabin and put everything back the way it was.
Moments later, Bam returned just as October was wiping down the table. He snaked his arms around her waist from behind and planted a loud kiss on the side of her neck. "Damn Woman, I love you." He said with a wide grin as he buried his face in her hair.
"And I you, Husband." October replied.
Gabe came through the door and greeted them both. "Bear and Matt are just double checking that the load is secure and we are ready to leave." He told Bam.
Bam nodded. "Let's have lunch first and then be on our way."
October set the cooler on the table and laid out the contents of the picnic lunch she and Amber had put together that morning. Gabe stood at the window and tilted his head curiously at Bam. "Your shirt is on inside-out." He stated. October's face turned beet red and she dropped her chin to her chest as she concentrated on arranging the sandwiches just so. Bam couldn't stop the smile from spreading across his face. He swiftly pulled it over his head to right it. "Is that a lust bite?"Gabe voice got a little louder as he pointed to the centre of Bam's chest. Bam ran his fingers over the red mark before pulling the fabric of his tshirt back down over it. He stepped towards October and gathered her into his arms. "Sometimes she gets a little rough." His eyes glinted mischievously at Gabe. October pressed her face into the front of Bam's shirt, trying to hide while her face grew yet a deeper shade of crimson.
Gabe's eyes widened comically. "What did you guys do while we were gone?" He asked incredulously.
Bam laughed out loud, completely unembarrassed. "Well, little brother, if you haven't figured it out yet, you're not as smart as I think you are."
Gabe's face screwed up into a disgusted expression. "I can't believe you two! This is our boat! It's our family business!"
Matt burst through the door. "What's all the yelling about?" He glanced at the table. "Oh good. Lunch!" He exclaimed and snagged a sandwich to set on a paper plate. He plopped himself down on the bench.
"I wouldn't sit there if I were you." Gabe warned. "In fact I wouldn't sit anywhere in this..." Matt looked up at him with a sandwich already in his mouth. "This den of iniquity!" Matt looked at him quizzically while he chewed. Gabe pointed an accusing finger at Bam and October and hissed. "They just had sex in here!"
Matt stopped chewing as his eyes swung over to where his brother stood with his arms around October. Some bread crumbs fell out of his mouth as he shrugged. "Well it's not like they'd be the first." Gabe clamped his mouth shut and blanched a little. Matt swallowed his mouthful and continued. "We have a big family and there's not a lot of privacy. You gotta take what you can get." Gabe's eye brows shot further up in his forehead. "Besides," Matt continued as he gripped the edge of the table with both hands. "This table is really sturdy and the perfect height for-"
"Enough!" Gabe shouted. He grabbed a sandwich off the table and narrowed his eyes at all three of them. "I'm eating outside." The door banged shut as the three others watched him leave. Matt stared at the closed door for a moment then muttered. "He needs a woman."
October stepped away from her husband and looked over the sandwiches. She chose one and sat down beside Matt, shoving him over roughly. "Or a blow up doll." She quipped. Her face had almost returned to its natural colour.
Bam looked at his wife and brother sharply as they giggled at the table like school girls.
"A blow up doll is way less maintenance." Matt agreed.
"Yeah." October nodded in agreement. "And she doesn't even need batteries."
"Or a life preserver." Matt added, laughing even harder.
"And she'll never get knocked up." October giggled, handing a sandwich and a can of pop to Bam. Matt stopped laughing. His voice changed octave. "Yeah." he smiled brokenly. "I'm gonna go -- go check the cargo." He abruptly stood up, leaving his half-eaten lunch on the table and exited the room.
October watched after him in confusion then turned to Bam. "What did I say?" She asked as she replayed the previous conversation over in her head.
Bam watched out the window as Matt's curls bounced out of sight. "I don't know, baby." He sighed heavily. "I don't know."
